Approach of Old School Death Metal by Cryptopsy...
亦是 Cryptopsy 의 First Full-length 인 本作은 Old School Death Metal 의 後期 一員임을 나타낸다. 本作에서 느낄 수 있는 Cannibal Corpse 나 Suffocation 의 技法들을 發展的으로 進化시켰는데 이 때 當時 Cannibal Corpse 나 Suffocation 도 Old School Death Metal Band 로서 新生 Cryptopsy 와 함께 Scene 의 燦爛했던 時節을 같이했기 때문에 Cryptopsy 의 本作도 Old School Death Metal 로 分類해도 無妨할 것이다. 殺伐하고 不敬스럽고 無慈悲하기 그지없는 Blast Beat 로 Technical 한 雰圍氣가 支配的인데 前術한 것 처럼 先代의 Old School Death Metal Band 처럼 半音階的 進行을 固守하고 Overdrive Guitar Solo Part 도 Riff 와 Blast Beat 가 함께 樂曲 進行에 適材適所에 配置되어 蓋然性을 높여 Old School Death Metal 에 近接하려한 痕跡이 엿보인다. 이 때문에 Cryptopsy 의 有一한 Old School Death Metal 로서의 아니 Cryptopsy 自身의 有一한 Masterpiece 인 셈이다.

2집보다 1집을 추종하는 팬층이 많은 이유는 충분히 알 것 같다. 비슷한 융단폭격 사운드지만, 1집은 좀 더 케이아틱한 느낌이 강하다는게 차이점으로 보인다. 단, 내 기준에서는 1집도 너무 훌륭하지만, 2집에서는 데스메탈 대표 킬링트랙이 3곡이나 존재하기에 1집을 2집과 동급은 아닌 "준작" 반열로 올리는게 맞지않나 싶다.

Honestly just such a great fucking album dude, every single track had me head banging along and the vocals grew on me extremely quickly. This is such a fucking amazing album and I could listen to it all day, every riff, every blast beat every everything was just perfection and I love those little bass parts thrown in there before a breakdown. Fucking awesome album Long live Brutal Death Metal

광기어린 분위기와 깡통같은 스네어 톤이 너무 사기적이다. 폭풍같이 몰아치는 블래스트비트와 낮게 꿈틀대는 변태같은 베이스가 매력적이고 두텁게 밀려오는 기타, 연주의 테크니컬함과 브루탈함, 템포의 완급 조절도 훌룡하다. 1,2,3번 트랙의 펀치력이 참 좋다. 10번 트랙도 추천

이때부터 그들은 점점 날뛰기 시작했다. 이 앨범부터 미쳤었고, None so vile이라는 앨범까지 만들어 이 밴드는 점차 커져나갔다. 이 앨범 같은 경우에는 브루탈 50%, 테크니컬 50%가 섞였다. 분명히 템포는 테크니컬 같은데 기타의 사운드는 무거워 뭔가 이질적인 느낌을 심어준다. 보컬은 그냥 뭔가 말할 게 없다. 완벽한 앨범이라고 할 수 있다.

이 밴드를 통해 브루털데스메탈에 입문했다. 이들의 2집앨범을 처음 겪었고 단순히 앨범 커버 아트가 너무 독특하고 신선해서 무턱대고 들었다가 깜짝놀라서 재생을 멈췄었다.... 지금은 이들의 다른앨범들도 하나하나 찾아보는 실정이다.... 1집 2집은 정말 기가 막힌다....

개인적으론 2집보다 더 좋아하는 크립탑시의 1집. 기타의 연주나 드럼의 찰진 사운드, 로드웜의 괴상망측한 보컬, 기관총같은 베이스 모두 훌륭하다. 특히 3번째 트랙인 Open Face Surgery의 전율은.. 엄청난 명반이다. 93점.

Overrated, really there aren't many memorable riffs or anything of note really, and the production isn't doing it ay favors.

크립탑시는 이 앨범을 냄으로써 그들이 할 수 있는 모든 것을 했다. 정신없게 빠르지만 동시에 질서정연하고 조직적이며, 기계적이고 편집증적이지만 동시에 물 흐르듯 자연스럽다.

Amazing for a debut album. Brutal as fuck drumming, ripping guitars, crazy basswork mixed with indecipherable schizophrenic barks mark one of the best albums that BDM has to offer.
