A good-ass album from the pioneers of death metal themselves, Death.
This album helped to shape what death metal is now with iconic songs like 'Crystal Mountain' and the album-titled track 'symbolic' that definitely helped death earn their place in metal history, and with some more underrated tracks such as the songs '1,000 eyes' and 'Misanthrope'.
I would definitely recommend this album to anyone looking into getting into more extreme subgenres of metal or for people just looking into getting into heavier music in general, this album deserves the 100/100 rating i gave it.

Man this album is sooo good, its so catchy while being really complex and constantly changing.
Track 1: Symbolic
The part after the first chorus is my favourite bit. I love the "savor what you feel and what you see" bit too, it has such urgency.
Track 2: Zero Tolerance
I love the chorus and the instrumental at the 2 min mark. I feel the verses aren't the strongest though.
Track 3: Empty Words
This song has my favourite chorus on the album, the guitar is so dramatic. I love all the riffs, all the verses and the fade out at the end is beautiful. One of my favourites on the album.
Track 4: Sacred Serenity
A real groovy track that has some incredible flow. Like many other songs on this album, my favourite part of this song is the mddle instrumental.
Track 5: 1000 Eyes
Man I love the change of the riff into the "to the left and to right right" part. As usual the middle part of the song also stands out a lot. The "We are enslaved now" line to finish the track off is just perfect.
Track 6: Without Judgement
The opening line to this song hits so hard. Some really interesting lyrics on this track, the same could be said for the rest of the album too. The drums also stand out for me on this one.

Symbolic is considered to be not only the magnum opus of Death, but perhaps the greatest Death Metal record of all time, and by extension among the best releases in extreme music. Death not only managed to up their game and change styles ever so slightly between albums, but also consistently release nothing but the highest quality material.
Symbolic is an album I have been anticipating for some time now, knowing its reputation well, and it managed to meet every expectation. The songs here are probably the most identifiable in Death’s catalogue, each having insanely memorable guitar leads and mind blowing solos that do not sacrifice a strong melody for technical prowess. Musically, it is near-perfect as far as Tech-Death goes, placing the emphasis on brilliant songwriting and fantastic riffage first and foremost, and weaving their intricate technical abilities within the songs rather than using the songs as a means to show off. Production is great, rhythm section is great, vocals are intelligible… it’s the total package.
One weakness to me; the lyrics go a bit too far. By that, I mean at this point in his career, it seems Chuck was obsessed with the spiritual and abstract, and honestly half the songs don’t even sound like they are about anything, just philosophical ramblings without explicit meaning. Not for me, in any case…

95-100 아주 녹음도 잘 되어있다고 생각하고 텐션감이나 울림이 참 좋은 앨범. 언제나 양질의 음반을 내는 데스이지만 그 중에서도 특히 좋은 인상을 가진 앨범

과거에 내가 그닥 좋아하지 않았던 이 앨범특유의 '멜데스'스러움이 요새는 오히려 사랑스럽게 다가온다. 95점에서 100점으로 상향 조정

Honestly this album is another overrated album. But this album is by no means a bad album, just not worthy of being considered the 20th best metal album of all time. The second half of this album was significantly better than the first half, with chugging riffs, more brutal vocals and excellent drum work. But the first half was slow and melodic. Maybe I should just check out some more grindcore because this album goes more melodic than hardcore unlike their earlier albums.

Possibly the band's best album. My favorite, a true masterpiece. On his penultimate album with the band Death, Chuck once again shows the genius he was in life. There isn't a single average track here, they are all excellent. A Metal masterpiece.

I'm giving it the same score, but I like Individual Thought Patterns a tiny bit more. I really appreciate the songwriting on this one, and Chuck's vocals give it great passion. A little more variety in how he delivered them could have made this album even better. That's my one small criticism on this wonderful recording.

I think, "Symbolic" is the best Death's album. The music is very melodic and the production is very good, without the music straying toward the Gothenburg sound. There is something for everyone in this album, harsh vocals, incredible guitar melodies and pounding drums so the listener should easily like this album just the way I did.

1번트랙 symbolic 이 노래의 가사는 척슐디너 자신이 지향하던 인생관 그 자체를 표현한것같다. 돈으로는 절대살수없는 고양감 상징적인 행동, 너무나 생생하지만 동시에 보이지 않는... 그가말한 순수함은 그가 하고자 한 음악에 평생을 헌신해왔던 자신의 마음을 애기한것같다.
