This was first released by Napalm Death independently, but later Earache Records came across Napalm Death and made an official release of the full-length. The first half was also intended to be apart of a split with British hardcore act Avistic.

Considered by many to be the first grindcore album.

Most of the albums, re-released or not, come in varied colors: orange, gold, green, blue, yellow. The main color of the release though is yellow as pictured on this page.

The first pressing of the CD (1988) came as a 54-track CD including the "From Enslavement To Obliteration" album and 4 bonus tracks (which are the tracks from the EP "The Curse" minus the title track). In 1994, the first two albums were re-released separately.

Re-issued on vinyl in 2002. European pressing: 1000 copies on black vinyl. US pressing: 700 copies green vinyl, 300 copies red vinyl.

Re-released as DualDisc in March 2007.

Re-released and remastered from the original tapes with C (FDR) in 5th March, 2012 on limited edition redux CD and coloured vinyl LP.

The limited edition CD comes housed in a digipack sleeve and includes the previously unreleased rough mix of the entire album as a bonus, complete with original ad libs and intros from the studio and an alternate version of the title track. The collector's LP version is available in the following quantities and colours:

100 - Lime Green, 200 - Lilac, 300 - Magenta, 800 - Black & White.

"You Suffer" is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the shortest song ever recorded, at 1.316 seconds.
