Album of the day #275. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath 1969 also known as the we stutter album. (LOL I hate self titles). Devil music at it's finest and what do these Satan worshippers do when they meet Satan???? They sing "oh god please help me". I always loved that about them! LOL This music will make you tap your foot some say it will send you straight to hell. I say it will make you bounce your head! Yes music is so good it's worth going to hell for buying one today! It sold 1,000,000 and sent 100 million to hell. Yep all true! According to Black Sabbath guitarist and founder member Tony Iommi, the group's debut album was recorded in a single day on 16 October 1969.

The Greatest Legacy Of The Heavy Metal!!!
Heavy Metal 역사상 가장 위대한 역작이 교회종탑의 울음소리로 시작한다. 바로 Black Sabbath 밴드의 동명 데뷔작인 "Black Sabbath" 이다. 본작은 Metal 에서의 Atmospheric 을 어떻게 추구해야 하는지 제시하였으며 Anceint Extreme 격인 앨범이다. Ozzy 의 보컬 음색은 장난 가득한 어린 악마의 속삭임과 같다. 그만큼 Pure Heavy Metal 이라는 것이다. Rock 'n Roll 과 Popular Song 이 강세였던 1970년에 당시 이런 불경스런 앨범이 나왔다는 것은 역사적 사건이다. Black Sabbath 를 제대로 느껴보고 싶다면 본작부터 순차적으로 감상하는 걸 권하고 싶다.

1970년, 여러 하드락 밴드들이 조금씩 눈에 띄기 시작하는 시기
하지만 뭔가 다른 분위기, 뭔가 다른 기타 리프, 대중적이지 않은 노골적인 음산한 분위기를
내세우며 최초의 헤비메탈 앨범이라는 의미를 가지게 된다.
그전까지 밴드음악들은 최소한 인간의 감정, 멜로디 등 인간적인 느낌은 있었다고 볼수있는데
이건 정말 처음 들었던 청취자들은 쌩뚱맞은 느낌이엇을것같다.
우리도 대중가요들만 듣는 사람들이 락음악 들으면 이해를 못하듯..-,.-
헤비메탈 시초라고는 하지만 좀더 구체적으로 보면 블랙, 고딕 등등의
메탈에 좀더 영향을 많이 끼치게 되는것 같다.

종이접기 실력이 매우 뛰어난 아이큐 70짜리 청년이 있다고 치자. 하지만 종이접기 실력이 뛰어나단 이유만으로, 아무도 이 저능아한테 천재라고 불러주지는 않는다. 운동화끈 묶기나 라면끓이기를 못하는 대학교수가 있다고 치자. 그러나 운동화끈 묶기나 라면끓이기 못해도, 누구하나 그 교수한테 바보천치라고 말하지는 않는다.

그 이유는 무엇일까? 남들이 당연하게 여기는 사소한 것을 못하더라도, 남들이 전혀 잘 할 수 없는 어려운 무언가를 잘한다면 그 사람은 사회에서 희소가치가 있는 유용한 사람이 되기 때문이다.(이 반대도 성립한다.)

많은 사람들은 음악을 들을 때 단지 사람의 목소리만 듣는다.

1집을 포함해서, 초창기의 블랙 사바스의 마이크를 잡은 오지 오스본은 보컬 자체로는 뛰어나지 않다. 처음 듣는 사람한테 혐오감까지 줄 수 있는 수준이다. 오지 오스본을 떠나서, 블랙 사바스의 초기작들은 처음 듣는 사람들한테 지루하거나 불쾌한 음악으로 다가온다. 때문에 많은 이들은 블랙 사바스의 진가를 깨닫지 못하고, 심지어 오지 오스본 시절의 블랙 사바스가 과대평가되었다고까지 생각한다.

Black Sabbath의 충격적인 데뷔작으로 악마주의와 반종교적인 사상을 기반으로 한 음산한 음악을 들려준다. 처음엔 Earth란 이름으로 활동하다 1969년에 Black Sabbath로 개명하고 이듬해 2월 13일 금요일에 동명 타이틀 데뷔작을 내놓았다. Rodger Bain의 지휘 아래, 단 이틀 만에 단돈 600파운드로 제작되어 멤버들의 연주는 라이브나 다름없다. Ozzy Osbourne의 읊조리는 듯한 보컬, Toni Iommi의 한없이 낮게 깔리는 음산한 리프로 초자연적이고 주술적인 느낌을 전해준다. 노골적인 사타니즘을 부각시킨 최초의 음반으로 익스트림 음악의 정신적 토대를 마련한 것으로 평가된다. 영국 차트 8위를 기록하기도 하였다.

Quite possibly the first album of all-time that can be considered a heavy metal genre. There are still quite a few blues influences, and the level definitely drops in the last few songs, so it's not a pure masterpiece. Sabbath still managed to make the most significant release in music history in 1970, the value of which cannot be underestimated. And yes, songs like Black Sabbath and N.I.B. still hit as well as I believe they did almost 60 years ago.

As influential and iconic as Black Sabbath's first record is, I can't really say that it's ever been one of my absolute favorites. There's only like three tracks here that I would deem as highlights (those primarily being the Heavy Metal ones), with all the rest just being on the average side (the more bluesy Hard Rock stuff). Despite that, I still think "Black Sabbath" is a decent debut.

예전 블랙 새바스의 녹음은 좀 안좋았던 기억이 있지만 리마스터는 충분히 좋아졌다. 이 당시에 이 음악을 헤비메탈이라고 하지는 않았을 것이다. 70년에 나온 앨범으로 3대장 중 유독 개성이 넘치는 자기만의 소리가 있다고 생각한다. 1번부터 이 팀의 헤비메탈에 대한 영향력을 알리는 스잔한 분위기가 일품이다.톰알롬의 초기 엔지니어 시절도 느끼게 해준다

Black Sabbath's debut studio album is widely regarded as the first Metal album with dark lyrics for the time of release. Album was recorded in a single twelve-hour session on 16 October 1969 and released on 13 February 1970 by Vertigo Records. Aside from the bells, thunder and rain sound effects added to the beginning of the opening track and the double-tracked guitar solos, there were virtually no overdubs added to the album.

13일의 금요일같은 분위기가 충만한 1번 때문에 듣게 된 앨범. 듣다보면 네 사람의 초일류 음악가가 빚어내는 4번에 빠져들고, 더 듣다보면 모든 트랙이 다 좋아지는 신기한 앨범. 더 신기한 건 같은 해에 이런 명반이 또 나온다는 것.
