I never understood why this album was never talked about as much as their other albums, in my opinion this is one of the greatest alternative metal albums of all time. David Draiman's main idea for this album is his view with religion. At first glance you can simply look at the track names and see that's the case. But the lyrics tell a much deeper story about his struggle to believe and the pressure of those around him. Getting into the meat of the album, it comes out swinging. The first four tracks are instant classics, and are hard to stop listening to. Liberate and Believe with their catchy chorus make for an easy ear worm. And unlike other disturbed albums, they didn't skimp out at the B-sides. Breathe, Bound and Devour are extremely good songs, filed with symbolism that when read make the album that much more intoxicating. Finally to end it off Darkness is an excellent balled, often sending chills down my spine every listen. Really goes to show what this band can achieve when they really try and find their sound. Absolutely recommend to anyone who has never heard this before.
