celkom ma prekvapuje zatiaľ dosť nízke (alebo skôr priemerné) hodnotenie nového albumu od Blind Guardian - "The God Machine". Počúvam ho už viac krát po sebe, pričom práve novinka sa mi zdá byť tvrdšia ako posledný počin, ktorý vyšiel pred siedmimi rokmi (nepočítam z môjho pohľadu zatiaľ nepodarený experiment z roku 2019 "Legacy of the Dark Lands"). A taktiež je po hudobnej stránke je najbližšie k starším albumom kapely. Album kombinuje Speed/Power/Heavy Metal, pričom striedajú sa rýchlejšie pasáže s pomalšími alebo s časťami piesní v strednom tempe. Obsahuje všetky známe prvky kapely, či už speedové riffovanie (toto na B.G. milijem) / melodické vyhrávky, úderné, no aj pestré bicie a typický a ľahko rozpoznateľný Hansi -ho melodický spev + zborové refrény. Piesne sú rozmanité, majú zložitejšiu štruktúru a nenudia. Jedine obal ma až tak nezaujal: je taký zvláštny (má aj pekné prvky, no aj také, ktoré sa mi nepáčia). ale ide hlavne o hudbu a tá je na novinke podarená.

90-95 예전에는 중기때 앨범보다는 떨어진다고 생각했으나 지금은 생각이 많이 바뀌었다. 밴드가 나이가 들었음에도 꽤나 헤비한 구석도 있고 블가의 사운드가 집대성되어 있다는 생각도 든다. 결코 퇴보하지 않는 좋은 밴드라 생각이 든다.

This album is more progressive then that I expect , really great album by them and I think this album is the Blind Guardian album we wanted and deserved

다시 그들의 스타일로 돌아가려는 모습을 보인 것 자체로 보너스 점수를 주게된다. 힘있는 리듬파트와 앨범을 관통하는 서사, 블가만의 스타일 까지.. 킬링 트랙이 있었으면 하는 진한 아쉬움이 남는다.

블라인드 가디언 전체 디스코그래피에서 세손가락안에 들만한 걸작. Blind Guardian Twilight Orchestra에서의 경험 덕인지 오케스트라 활용이 능숙하고 한층 웅장한 사운드 창조.

I thoroughly enjoyed this album. The singer has quite a voice, but I wish he would alternate between tones more often for variety.

What an epic comeback! This album its a complain of skills of the band, songs like Secrets of American Gods, Damnation and Violent Shadows! fly my mind. PURE BRILLIANT LL

곡들이 서로 비슷해서 분리가 잘 되지않는 단점이 있지만 전반적으로 매우 뛰어난 곡들이 많고, 특유의 기타톤을 유지하면서도 중세적 분위기를 조금 더 소거하려는 작곡적 방향이 느껴진다. 다만 에반게리온과 너무 비슷하게 생긴 Peter Mohrbacher의 Gadreel를 앨범 커버로 가져온것은 중세미를 탈피하겠다는 의지로 느껴지지만 너무 멀리 가버린 느낌이다.

가디언스타일의 유니크함이 여전하다. 리얼 오케스트라 사운드도 들려주며 흥미로운 기타 플레이까지 다채로운 사운드를 들려준다. 한지의 보컬 역시 여전히 쌩쌩함이다. 근데 드럼 좀 바꿔라 제발.. 언제까지 이 거지 같은 드럼플레이를 들어야되나.. 그립읍니다 오멘형님..
