Bishop of Hexen은 국내 익스트림 메탈 팬들 사이에서도 나름 인기를 끌었던 밴드중 하나다. Bishop of Hexen은 Emperor가 본격적으로 장르를 개척하고, Cradle of Filth가 크게 판을 키웠던 심포닉 블랙 메탈 씬에서 제법 인지도를 떨친 밴드라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 이들의 데뷔 앨범 Archives of an Enchanted Philosophy을 들어보면 두 밴드의 자취가 뚜렷하게 나타나고 있다. 음산하고 신비적인 분위기를 물씬 풍기는 신디사이저에서는 Emperor의 영향력이 감지되며, 국내에서 마귀 할멈 보이스라는 평을 들은 보컬톤은 Cradle of Filth의 그림자를 실감할 수 있다. 두 걸출한 선구 밴드들의 유산을 적절히 조합해냈다고 하지만, 이를 토대로 자신들만의 고유한 사운드를 만들어 냈다고는 생각되지 않는다. 솔직히 마이너 카피라고 생각하고 있다. 게다가 음질이 그리 좋지 않은 부분에서 밴드가 영향받은 선배 밴드들의 걸작들에 비해 열등하다고 생각된다. 익스트림 메탈의 성지인 북구유럽이 아닌 중동에서 이런 밴드가 이른 시기에 등장했다는 점 말고는 이들의 데뷔 앨범에서 특별한 의의는 찾을 수 없을 듯하다.
