분위기를 한껏 일신해서 돌아온 In Mourning이다. 2010년대 후반부터, 북유럽 멜데스 씬에서 사실상 '프록'의 느낌을 완전히 지워내는 것은 어렵게 되었다. 아직까지는 직선적인 파워를 잃지 않고 있는 Arch Enemy를 제외한다면, 중기작부터 프록의 경계에 걸쳐있다는 평가를 받기도 했던 Dark Tranquillity를 비롯해 핀란드의 Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum은 애수어린 선율에 밴드 특유의 악곡 구성을 보여주고 있으며, 심지어 Kalmah와 같이 오래된 밴드조차 최근작에서 유기적인 구성을 조금 포기하더라도 다양한 분위기를 만들기 위해 기존의 사운드에서 벗어난 시도를 한 바 있다. In Mourning은 그러한 북유럽 멜데스 씬에서도 '프록'의 구성에 가장 가까운 밴드 중 하나이며, 제도권 국가들 중에서는 이와 유사한 형식을 찾아보기 힘들 정도로 독보적인 위치에 다다르지 않았나 싶다. 프랑스의 Fractal Gates가 어느정도 참신한 프록멜데스를 선사한바 있고, 호주의 Be'lakor는 또 다른 거물 밴드로 성장하고 있지만 In Mourning이 보여주는 음악적 진화는 궤도가 다르다.

대단한 명반이다. 대표작 The Weight of Oceans에 비해도 꿀리지 않는다. 서정성이 좀더 늘어났다고 해야하나.. 전곡 퀄러티가 뛰어나다. 추천트랙은 5,7

na novinke "The Bleeding Veil" kombinujú prvky Melodického Death Metal -u s Prog Metal -om a občasnými odbočkami ku Gothic/Doom, Metalcore (ja ho tam vážne občas počujem) a v speve občas k Blacku. Podarené pestré album, pričom za najlepšiu pieseň považujem "Thornwalker", kde sa výborne strieda melodický spev s revom/growlingom a kombinujú sa tvrdšie a jemnejšie pasáže

Be'lakor 이후 또 하나의 취향저격 밴드를 찾았으니 바로 이 앨범의 주인공 In Mourning이다. 구름 낀 어두운 겨울 하늘을 바라보며 듣기 좋은 황량함이 베인 이들만의 독창적인 멜로디의 향연을 접할 수 있다. 얼마 남지 않은 올해가 지나가기 전에 또 하나의 훌륭한 밴드를 알게되어 기쁘다. Sovereign, Solitude and Silence, Thornwalker를 추천한다

처음에는 기존보다 무게감이 없어진듯한 사운드에 실망했는데, 들으면 들을수록 너무 좋다. 이들의 감정을 잘 살리면서도, 기존보다는 단순해진 곡 구성이 맘에 든다. 오늘처럼 눈 오는 날에 들으면 좋은 앨범.

A prog melodeath masterpiece. Sweden continually shows that they are the masters of this genre. In Mourning is at the top of the game with this release. It isn't an easy listening melodeath album but it is so worth the time to sit down and take it in properly.
