The first track is a bit too repetitive, but it's still enjoyable for the whole EP. Nice dark & grimy feelings, but nothing that compares to their 2022 album. Sep 30, 2023

Power metal beats and tons of guitar heroics. This whole album is an exhilarating experience. Sep 30, 2023

So glad I've learned this band exists! This album also has a blackened element, so people who want more bass in their black metal will be satisfied with Celeste. Anyway, I was in bliss for 41 minutes. Without a doubt, my pick of the day. Sep 28, 2023
Cosmicism 90/100
Great execution and tons of passion. There is gothic metal, pop, rap, drum & bass, R&B, and even some obvious Rage Against the Machine influence. The vocals take center stage, and they deserve it. The last couple of songs are a little less amazing than the rest, so I won't give it a 95. Anyway, this is gorgeous music. Sep 28, 2023

Overall good album. It makes me wish there was more variety in feeling and vocals. Also, it's nice to see the execution on that cover art, which is a concept we see a lot in death metal and some other genres, but usually not as well done as this one. Sep 28, 2023

I was going to give this a 95, but since it's a cover album I'll move it down to 90. They deserve credit though; all these songs sound like Monster Magnet songs. Also, all the band members have a chance to shine. I recommend this one, but you should probably be wearing sunglasses for your own safety. Sep 28, 2023

This is a great mix of black metal's variety in one short EP. The most surprising for me was the swagger in the riffs at some points, which is not typical for BM. Another BM band to watch for sure! Sep 28, 2023
Cosmicism 55/100
I expected cringe, but what I got was a bunch of very weak songs with no motivation. The lyrics have so many clichés, that some tracks are 100% cliché. Track 2 is a NIN style song but is still totally boring. Track 6 stands out as the only kinda good song; if it came on the radio, I might not turn it off. Sep 28, 2023

I tried a lot of sludge today, and I loved this one the most. It has such a bleak atmosphere, and the emotions are so powerful the whole 48 minutes feel like a great drama unfolding. The blend of genres is a real pleasure too. I do feel a little post-hardcore peeking out of the sludge throughout. Anyway, now I'm very curious how their other albums sound. Sep 27, 2023

Tolkien-inspired black metal, but not atmospheric BM or anything medieval or folky - just straight BM. Well done, and the vocals switch to death growls at times for variety. Sep 27, 2023
Cosmicism 90/100
The spacious feeling and nazzzty bogged-down distortion were pure bliss for me. More impressive than their 2023 album. Also, on Canyons, the distant feeling to the clean vocals and their delivery were also a lot more enjoyable. This album really captured my heart. Sep 27, 2023
Cosmicism 90/100
Catchy riffing and everything feels filthy & scandalous. This music is a purely metal feeling kind of metal, and it's done with great energy. Sep 27, 2023
Cosmicism 85/100
The worst I can say about this album is that it feels kind of simple, which might turn off some listeners. The atmosphere, however, is completely insane and I loved the sound. Sep 27, 2023

Moonlight Sonatas to translate the title. Folky atmosphere with good melancholy. I really felt the emotion. Sep 26, 2023

When the music nonstop makes me think 'hell yeah' from the first second to the last.... then there's no doubt it's great. Sep 24, 2023

Singing, guitar sound, lyrics, melodies, & atmosphere are all top-tier here! It also shifts fully into thrash for a good portion of the album, which is also a positive point because it's full of power. Great album with a great title. Sep 24, 2023

Finally discovering why I've heard this band name before, and it's the Sadness guy going complete insane with a more erratic and sometimes evil sound. This might be hard for many metal fans to listen to, but there's a certain percent of us that will love this music with a passion. Sep 24, 2023

Impressive songwriting & musicianship. This time as I was actually enjoying it too. Maybe it's just hard for me to get into the right mood for their music. Yes, it's all about the breakdowns. Vildhjarta, featuring some of the same members, matches my personality much more. I am glad I gave this one a try, though. Sep 24, 2023
Cosmicism 90/100
The members have been changing over the years, but their dependably brilliant black 'n' roll, punk, & metal have stayed at the same level. I find this one more exciting than Nattesferd, but just slightly. Also, almost as good as Splid. Instead of thinking more about why I rank those albums like that, I just want to listen to this again & again. Sep 24, 2023

The melancholy is so thick on this album. I'm glad I've finally looked into their earlier albums. This one is powerful & heavy like Aevum, and the quality is just as high. A very exciting record. Sep 22, 2023
Cosmicism 90/100
Very good epic feel on this album. The cover art has a castle that looks kind of amateurish, but don't be fooled; these are well written songs played with huge amounts of passion. Sep 22, 2023
Cosmicism 85/100
I liked this a lot, and I found the most doom-laden parts the best. Interesting that not even the doom on this album is all that slow; it's a lot of mid-tempo. Also, the melodies really stay with me. Sep 22, 2023
Cosmicism 90/100
Definitely better than Gold & Grey, since I find more of these songs very satisfying. Great melodies played by total pros. Also, Baroness's discography is starting to get pretty beefy at this point. I've loved their music for a long time and have real respect for the past & present members. Sep 22, 2023
Cosmicism 80/100
A prolific brutal death metal musician goes black metal, and you'll believe it when you hear the vocals. Good black metal with some symphonic intros. Sep 22, 2023
Cosmicism 85/100
Kind of hard to choose between 85 and 90 on this one. All good, but it doesn't excite me as much as Plague, which is similar in style. The military rhythms do feel prominent on this album, giving the music a feeling of galactic empires exploring new planets. Also, I just love that album cover. Sep 22, 2023
Cosmicism 95/100
The energy of the songs is equal to the coolness of the band & its image, which should be impossible but..... Motörhead. Sep 22, 2023

May 10, 2024

1990년도에 대체 무슨 일이 있었길래... rust in peace, painkiller, spiritual healing, cowboys from hell까지... May 7, 2024

May 5, 2024

May 10, 2024

7 days ago
