보통 Annihilator는 초기작들 Alice in Hell과 Never Neverland가 수작 혹은 명작 취급을 받는다. 이후의 작품들은 호오가 갈리는데, 그렇게 상반되는 평가가 대치되기 시작한 것은 바로 본작 Set the World on Fire부터이다. 앨범의 초반부만 처음 들어봤을 때만해도 Never Neverland와 크게 다르지 않다고 생각했다. Jeff Waters의 테크니컬한 리프와 멜로디 감각은 이 앨범에서도 여지없이 발휘되었다. 좀더 부드러워졌다고 하지만, 작품성을 깎아먹었다고 생각되지는 않는다. 그러나 이러한 평가는 중반부를 거치면서 수정할 수밖에 없게 되었다. 중반부에 접어들면서 록발라드도 아닌 팝발라드가 튀어나오면서 앨범의 구성은 난잡하게 바뀌어버렸다. Set the World on Fire 를 긍정적인 시각으로 본다면 다채로운 구성이라고 호평할 수 있겠지만, 부정적으로 본다면 이도저도 아닌 구성의 괴작에 지나지 않는다. 개인적으로는 이 앨범은 긍정적인 평가와 부정적인 평가를 합쳐서 낼 수밖에 없다. 위에서 난잡하다고 말했듯이 구성이 좋아보이지는 않는다. 아무리 좋게봐도 중간 부분의 발라드는 작품의 전반적인 완성도에 어느정도의 상처를 입혔다. 그러나 곡들의 퀄리티는 아주 훌륭한 편이다. 타이틀 트랙부터 Annihilator 특유의 프로그레시브한 전개가 돋보이는 Bats In The Belfry, 다소 물렁하지만 앨범에서 가장 많이 들은 Snake In The Grass, 그리고 문제시했던 Phoenix Rising과 Sounds Good To Me까지, 이 앨범은 한곡한곡 듣기에는 아주 좋은 작품이다. Set the World on Fire 는 이전 작품들에 비해 작품성은 다소 떨어진다고 생각되지만, 그저 즐기기에는 아주 그만인 작품이다.

상당히 잘 뽑힌 스레쉬 메탈 앨범입니다. 스레쉬 메탈이지만 스피드로 밀어부치는 스타일이 아니라 적당한 완급 조절이 돋보이는 앨범이라고 봅니다.

Annihilator sú na hudobnej scéne od roku 1984 pričom zažili slávnejšie časy, ako aj menej podarené. Hlavne začiatky mali výborné a sú nezmazateľné vpísané do metalovej histórie.
