Great slam album with just the right amount of snare drum and vocals that aren't complete gurgles. Simple riffs complete a well done base model slam tape. Jan 4, 2023

I don't normally like symphonic deathcore, but the addition of the slam elements with mild symphonics is a perfect blend to counter the overabundance of trendy blackened or symphonic music recently gaining momentum. Jan 1, 2023

Instrumentally, this EP is great, but I can see how some might find the vocals monotonous. However, I love the "tunnel throat" style of deathcore vocals and there's just enough highs in the vocals to offset the lows. Overall a good listening experience and some of their songs could easily be added to the "End Of The World" soundtrack. Dec 18, 2022

Huge fan of this band, especially their newer material. Nov 15, 2022

Fantastic album, but you can tell from their newer material, they had some growing to do when this album was released. Nov 15, 2022

I'm not a fan of the blackened/symphonic scene, but this band keeps it to a minimum and sounds so much better. Nov 15, 2022

A well done piece of work as usual. Tom Barber is still one of the premier vocalists out there and continues to create with an almost effortless feel, although it's definitely not an easy task. Guitars are very supportive and carry the songs, but there's nothing out of the ordinary found here. Drums are always solid with Chelsea Grin regardless of the drummer, but I do like the backup vocals from the drummer on hiatus. Nov 14, 2022

This is one of the better albums released in this genre this year. Certainly a great follow up to their previous, and they're a great band to see live. Nov 5, 2022

Great vocals, but overall a mess of repetitive symphonic songs that follow the same exact song structure. Absolutely nothing of value here for me and it won't be forgotten this band abandoned CJ McCreery because of a fear of cancel culture. If CJ was such a bad person to work with, they could've ditched him long before those ridiculous accusations arose. Oct 16, 2022

Absolutely awful. One of the worst band transformations I've seen over the years. Oct 4, 2022

Perhaps the Century Media signing has affected their music, but this is not their best song in recent years. It almost seems tamed compared to anything off of Absolvere or Vital Deprivation. Still one of the best vocalists out there, but I'll be in a "wait and see" mode for a little while. Sep 8, 2022

Consistently good material. Glad to see these guys are still doing what they do best and they're phenomenal live. Sep 7, 2022

Heavy music in its simplest form. Beatdown makes for a great soundtrack if you feel inclined to repeatedly ram your head into a concrete wall. May 29, 2022

Excellent specimen of a band that incorporates several genre styles while still maintaining a "blackened" theme. Great chugging riffs along with orchestral segments and superb guttural vocals make this a winner. May 2, 2022

Another quality release from a solid band. They consistently put out a great mixture of deathcore and beatdown, and this release proves they're getting better at it as they move forward. Great band for summoning adrenaline. Apr 23, 2022

There's a lot of bands that ride the line between slam and core, but this one definitely leans more towards slam. I never seem to be able to enjoy that snare drum and the unintelligible gurgle vocals, but this is a decent piece of slamming brutal death. Apr 6, 2022

Fantastic piece of work which I never really appreciated until their most recent EP was released and I decided to listen to it again... and again... and again. Mar 30, 2022

THIS! I love everything about this band. They're unbeatable live and in the studio. This band has been good, but they've officially reached the level of greatness, as far as my scale goes. Do yourself a favor and give this one a listen. Mar 30, 2022

For fans of the newer "blackened deathcore" sound, this album is a winner. Although I'm not the biggest fan of this hybrid genre, this is a well put together piece of work. Vocalist does a great job and the guitars are almost the technical deathcore style. Drums in this case are incredible, but since I find most drumming impressive, it's hard for me to distinguish between good and great. The added symphonics make for a great atmospheric sound. Overall, this is a great album. Unfortunately, I'll never learn to like the highs, but I really appreciate the contrast with the superior lows. I can't pinpoint the problem, but something never sets right with me when it comes to AngelMaker. They don't care what I think and that's fine with me. Mar 15, 2022

Although I've moved on from the thrash side of the genre, it's great to see LOG still producing great music after all these years. I tend to avoid any sort of clean vocals and the collaboration with HEALTH on this one unfortunately shows. Sounds exactly like every LOG song I've ever heard with a trendy insert of cleans. It does sound like Randy's vocals are starting to fade slightly too. Meh. I'm sure the people who still love thrash metal will praise it. Feb 24, 2022

I know everyone worships Dickie Allen, and I'm happy to praise his vocal skills and range, but it takes more than that to make a great music, and I'm afraid Scumfuck doesn't deliver that to me. I was never a huge fan and the only time I thought they had a decent song or two was on the split with Hollow Prophet, and even those were blown away by the Hollow Prophet side. I find the guitars on this release to be completely yawn worthy, but then again, it's borderline downtempo. Feb 24, 2022

Overall, a good follow up album to their debut. Although it has more ballad styled songs than I normally prefer, it's still a very consistent feel throughout and maintains the sound they used as a foundation on the debut. This album will also get played from time to time no matter how old I get, and no matter what genre I delve into next. Feb 22, 2022

Long before I discovered deathcore, I used to listen to this band all the time. It's just good classic metal and really helped a lot of people finally out of the grunge remnants of the 1990s. I still listen to this album to this day and I don't see a time in the future when I wouldn't. Highly recommended for the college metal vibe. Feb 22, 2022

If you listen to this album with expectations of hearing something groundbreaking or progressive, it's your own fault for being disappointed. Acranius delivers a hard, heavy style with slam, deathcore, and beatdown traces and it's exactly what they've proven to be their expertise. Although the beginner listener may think the entire album sounds similar, the intricacies are there. You could easily make this your soundtrack to destroy everything in your sight while two stepping. I always like the hybrid genre of brutal slamming deathcore and this album is no exception. It has plenty of guest appearances and a consistently brutal sound throughout. Jan 7, 2022

7 days ago

The importance of "Holy Diver" to the metal world cannot be underestimated. Ronnie James Dio showed the world that he is capable of conjuring up a band that makes such diamond-heavy music that weaker ones will still be horrified decades later. Thank you Ronnie James Dio. You were the biggest and the greatest and you will never be forgotten. Apr 7, 2024

"Sacred Heart" does not quite rise to the sharpest peak of Dio's production, and on the next album "Dream Evil" we heard the band's strongest performance after the debut album "Holy Diver". However, "Sacred Heart" should not be skipped under any circumstances and it is an underrated work in terms of its best moments. If for some reason you haven't heard it yet, fans of classic heavy metal should check out the work now at the latest. Apr 7, 2024
