'모든 전쟁을 끝내기 위한 전쟁', 제 1차 세계 대전의 이명이다. 그러나 조금이라도 상식이 있는 사람이라면 알겠지만, 1차 대전은 전쟁을 끝내지 못했다. 1918년 11월 11일 이후로도 굵직한 전쟁만 꼽아봐도 제 2차 세계대전, 한국 전쟁, 베트남 전쟁, 소련-아프가니스탄 전쟁과 미국-아프가니스탄 전쟁, 4차례의 중동 전쟁, 걸프 전쟁, 심지어는 2022년에도 러시아-우크라이나 전쟁까지, 전쟁은, 전쟁은 절대 바뀌지 않았다. 그래서 제 1차 세계 대전이 더욱 비극적으로 다가오게 마련이다. 그 시대의 사람들은 제 1차 세계대전이 마지막 전쟁이기를 희망했으나, 현실은 전혀 그렇지 않았기에.
1차 대전은 제국주의의 정점과 봉건주의의 종점을 찍은 전쟁이다. 흔히 근대사와 현대사를 나눔에 있어 기준은 1차 대전이 된다. 대항해 시대가 열어젖힌 식민지 시대에, 유럽인들이 싸우는 대상은 신세계의 원주민이었지, 같은 유럽인-소위 '문명인'-과는 거의 싸우지 않았다. 전략은 고착화 되었다. '비문명인' 상대로는 함대를 끌고가서 대포맛 좀 보여주고, 상륙해서 총 몇발만 쏘면 그만이었다. 병사들의 개인화기만으로 부족하다면 개틀링 기관총이 있었다. 수십에서 수백에 불과한 총으로 무장한 병사들이 수만에 달하는 원주민 군대를 학살 ... See More

Sabaton이 Sabaton했다.The Last Stand부터 The Great War그리고 지금 The War to End All Wars까지 그냥 컨트롤 c+v해서 만든수준이다.

Sabaton's 10th studio full-length offer another conceptual album about the First World War (they covered the same period on The Great War). Everything that the band is known for is here again. Album delivers the same catchy epic Power Metal, with big choruses, supported by keyboards, perfect for the festival crowd. A small negative is that almost every song follows the same simplistic structure of verse - chorus - solo and are primarily composed of mid-tempo riffs.

전쟁과 역사적인 전투를 이야기하는 밴드의 컨셉답게 이번 앨범도 1차대전의 이야기들을 다루고 있다. 밴드계의 어쌔신크리드같은 느낌? 흥미를 끄는 이야기들, 여전히 코러스를 빵빵하게 쓰고 있다. 그때문인가 조금 어둡지만 스웨덴식 프리덤콜의 느낌은 여전하다

언제나와 변함없는 전형적인 Sabaton 사운드. 개인적으로 Sabaton의 음악을 별로 좋아하지 않기에 별다른 감흥 없음. 다만 2번 트랙만큼은 좋음.

좋다. Stormtrooper나 The Unkillable Soldier같은 킬링트랙은 역시.... 단, 점점 사바톤에 토미 요한손의 냄새가 많이 나고 있다는게 불만. 사바톤을 사바톤스럽게 만드는 포인트를 토미 요한손이 잡아먹고 있는 점은 조절이 조금 필요할듯..
