80년대에 좀 너무 팝적, 상업적으로 가는 것 아닌가 하는 그 전 느낌의 앨범. 이미 70년대의 느낌과는 다른 길을 가기 시작은 했다. 1,3,6, 8,9 등 뭐 안좋은 트랙이 없다. 언제나 주의할 것이 루돌프 쉥커를 보통 리듬 섹션을 원활하게 쳐주는 명기타로만 알고 있는데 스콜피언스의 유명 발라드 등은 다 루돌프의 연주다. 8번도 그냥 미친 사람같다. 속된 말로 개멋있다

"Blackout" is Scorpions eighth studio album and during the writing process of the album lead singer Klaus Meine losing his voice. He had to undergo surgery on his vocal cords and was uncertain as to whether or not he would be able to record. Demos of the material were recorded with singer Don Dokken. However none of those recordings are featured on the album and Dokken is only credited with backing vocals. All music is composed by Rudolf Schenker.

Judas priest가 전작 Point of entry의 부진을 만회하려는듯 82년에 명반 Screaming for vengeance를 내놓았듯 이들도 전작 Animal magnetism의 부진을 만회하려는듯 이들 커리의 최고작 중 하나인 Black out을 82년에 출시한다. 타이틀곡을 위시하여 조악한 뮤직비디오를 제작했던 No one like you 마이네의 애수띤 비음이 가슴을 적시는 You give me all I need 등 전곡이 명곡들로 가득찬 명반!

The Scorpions mix some real nice riffs with anthemic choruses. It works wonderfully. Another great release.

Blackout, Now, Dynamite 이 세곡을 들어보면 스콜피언스가 발라드밴드라는 생각을 싹 사라지게 할것이다.

Lovedrive, Love At First Sting와 함께 스콜피온스 멤버들이 자랑스러워했던 앨범. 지금은 어떻게 생각하는지 모르겠지만 90년대에는 본인들이 그렇게 말했었음
