Nevermore는 메탈 밴드로 활동하기 힘든 시기에 결성했지만, 무사히 신고식을 치를 수 있었다. 이들의 셀프 타이틀 데뷔 앨범은 메탈 음악이 퇴조기에 접어들었던 미국이었지만, 90년대 중반 대안록의 득세에 반감을 가졌던 메탈 헤드들의 눈에 무사히 들 수 있었다. 이들의 EP 앨범은 데뷔 앨범 이후 숨 고르기 차원에서 제작한 앨범인데, 아마도 밴드 자신들은 후속 앨범과의 색깔과 차이가 나는 것을 고려했을 때 먼저 EP 앨범으로 제작하는 것을 택한 것 같다. In Memory를 살펴봤을 때 전반적으로 The Politics of Ecstasy에서 장황하게 펼쳐보였던 프로그레시브 메탈의 터치와는 약간 거리감이 있는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 오히려 In Memory는 데뷔 앨범과 좀더 가까이 있는 작품이 아닌가 싶다. 만약 후속 앨범에 실렸더라면 앨범의 유기적인 구성을 다소 저해했을 것라는 생각도 든다. 하지만 동시에 난해함이라는 키워드로 하여 본작을 살펴보면 또 The Politics of Ecstasy와 거리가 멀어보이지도 않는 듯한 기묘한 앨범이다. 어찌되었든 앨범에 수록된 곡 자체는 준수한 편이라 할 수 있다. 정규 앨범에 수록된 트랙들에 비해 조금도 밀리지 않는지라, Nevermore에 조금이라도 관심있는 사람들에게는 추천하고 싶다.

The Politics of Ecstasy 직전에 나온 앨범이어서 그런지 유사성도 많고, 적어도 데뷔앨범 보다는 진일보한 모습을 보여준다.

Fantastic EP from Nevermore, showing a more Thrashy style, plenty of melody and great lyrics.

1집 발매 뒤 바로 후속으로 발표된 EP앨범. 다소 꺼슬꺼슬한 스타일인데 Nevermore 초기작품 (dreaming neon black까지)의 냄새가 진하게 풍긴다. 난해한 맛이 있다보니 호불호는 확실히 갈리는 음악.
