Draconian Times Comments

This album represents one of the highlights of the band’s creativity as well as its mastery of Doom/Gothic Metal. Draconian Times is timeless, elegant, sophisticated and powerful. Overall, what Paradise Lost created here is an album for the ages. A milestone in metal music in general. The brilliance of this album lies in its ability to please die-hard metal fans as well as casual listeners. The riffs are heavy, but not unbearably crushing.

Paradise Lost leave behind their Doom roots even further, solidifying a pure Gothic Metal sound here.

For me, a very solid album with no particular weakpoints, but not astounding either. I'm rather surprised that back in the 90s this didn't make it onto MTV, alternative radio, modern rock radio etc as far is I heard. Played next to Metallica's Load & Reload, Pantera, Korn, Tool, and Alice in Chains etc which were everywhere, Draconian Times would've fit right in.

마초적이고 비장한 분위기가 좋다. 고딕이나 둠이나 잘 안 찾는 장르인데, 이 앨범은 귀에 확 들어온다.

Enchantment의 인상적인 인트로 건반 반주를 듣는순간 좋은 의미이든 나쁜의미이든 이 장르가 완전히 새로운 시대로 넘어가고 있다는걸 느꼈었지..

이름값 못한 앨범이다.

밴드의 개성을 유지하면서 대중성을 살린 엘범. 얼핏 들으면 평범한 초중기 주다스의 전통메탈 아님 팝메탈 처럼 들릴지 모르나, 밴드 특유의 처지는 분위기와 몽환적인 리드기타가 남아있고 무거우면서 두꺼운 닉 홈즈의 클린 보컬도 인상 깊습니다. 보컬 이펙트의 사용도 은근 인상깊네요.
