단단한 둠의 대지 위에 하늘하늘 떨어지는 피아노의 눈꽃들 그리고 고전적인 기타의 벨로디. 내가 어린이었을 때 겨울이 되면 가끔씩 눈덮힌 땅바닥에 드러누웠던 것이 생각난다. 얼어붙은 땅의 딱딱함, 눈의 차가움과 동시에 느껴지는 포근함. 이상하게도 따뜻하다 생각했던 눈속에 파묻혀 퍼런 하늘을 바라보면 세상에 나밖에 없다는 불안함과 이유모를 설렘이 느껴지곤 했다. 그때는 어떻게 그런 사소한 것들애서 미묘한 행복을 찾아내었을까. 동심과 과거를 향한 향수를 느끼게 한 앨범. 91.5점.

올해 발매된 앨범에서 단연 저평가된 앨범. 일단은 둠 메탈 딱지를 붙이고는 있으나 생각보다 템포는 빠른편. 둠 특유의 축 늘어지는 분위기는 없지만 지글거리는 기타톤이 일품이며 이를 적극적으로 활용한 미려하고 감성적인 멜로디가 빈틈없이 귀에 꽂힌다. 둠 메탈이란 단순히 느린것만으로 구성을 풀어나가는게 아니라는 점을 명명백백히 드러내준다고 할 수 있겠다. 전반적으로 다른 밴드에 비교하자면 Insomnium+Swallow the Sun느낌을 기대하면 좋을 것 같다. 트랙간의 균형도 잘 맞는데, 개인적으로는 마지막 트랙을 최고로 꼽지만 사람마다 다 다른 트랙을 선정할 정도로 모든 트랙의 완성도가 높다.

There's a lot of buzz about this one. Although it seems a lot of people like it a lot more than me, I just love how these long piano passages match up with the mostly mid-paced doom. Anyway it's a great album from a band that has their own unique sound, and they deserve tons of respect for that.
