The original Alice Cooper band really made an impact on hard rock music. Having put together a strong run of great hard rock albums like Love It To Death, Killer, and Billion Dollar Babies the band had been on a roll but were constantly touring and put out several albums in just a few short years.
Lead singer Alice Cooper wanted to move forward with an even more theatrical show while rumor has it the rest of the band who by this point were largely considered Alice's backing band (no disrespect to them, they were really good but Alice the singer was the main player and was doing most of the interviews as the leader of the band) and the band wanted to do some different things than Alice did. Michael Bruce, who is a really good songwriter wanted to do a solo album and the others especially Alice did the same. Cooper's album was a massive hit and he went on to a great solo career while the others did some different musical projects.
You could see the band was exploding with Muscle of Love. The album simply does not rock like their last four albums had. The songs are a bit disjointed. MOL did not expand upon Billion Dollar Babies which had been a number one album and with the exception of the great Teenage Lament '74 track the band sounds a little bored on this album. Not a terrible album by any stretch and I am always a fan of anyone who plays with Alice but this is one of my least listened to Alice albums.

The original Alice band before he went solo were coming apart here maybe two good songs on the album which is unusual for any band Alice the singer is in. One of the few Alice albums I rarely listen to.

The original band was out of gas here. Alice (the singer) wanted to go more theatrical while Michael Bruce longed to do a solo album (Alice did too) and the while band last direction. Fortunately, Alice the singer revitalized himself and went on to a great solo career.

I love all of Alice's music whether from the original band or him as a solo artist (I am an even bigger fan of his solo work) but this one is probably my least favorite Alice album and the last one by the original band. A couple of good songs but the songwriting isn't there for this one. Very disjointed effort.

A weaker and more commercial album compared to Alice Cooper's previous ones. Nevertheless, it's an enjoyable and solid record overall.
