Here's my pick of the day. It's also another band for me to catch up on. I find the doom elements somewhat on the sludge side, which is fine with me. There's also some industrial metal and some electronica. Anyway, 'Despair' is a great word for these powerful songs; the emotional distress is palpable & believable. So beautiful it's almost painful. Olhava puts the vocalist in his place. The raspy screams are way in the background in the mix, used the way most bands would use synth. This is a great album - I think better than their 2022 one.   Feb 2, 2024

The clean vocals just drone on, more like talking than singing, and that's the only thing that drags down the quality significantly on this album. The screaming is good, the lyrics are a mix of good & bad, & the rolling nu metal guitarwork is done exactly right. The last song is kinda okay, but this album does not work. The clean vocals are straight bad, the harsh vocals are just a tiny bit better, and a lot of the songs end without accomplishing much. The breakdowns are not heavy or exciting; they're just the slow parts in mid-tempo songs. They do have some nice syncopation, and that's probably the only good thing going on here.   Jan 31, 2024

It's some kind of magic. That 2nd song was going deeper & deeper into its hypnotic groove. Then all of a sudden I felt like I was about to cry. I don't know part of the song or what instrument made me feel anything, but my whole torso relaxed and I became more still. I did a crust punk Thursday, and this wonderfully post-apocalyptic feeling album was the best part of the day. Yes it's very punky, but the metal elements melt down death metal & thrash until they also become a bit heavy metal. Definitely a gem of an album.   Jan 29, 2024

I loved Edge of the Earth, and the airy & dreamy post-metal guitar parts on this album are great. Some parts I find kind of mediocre. Unfortunately some phony tough guy vocal parts here & there had me facepalming. This release is a mix of negative & positive for me, but still slightly on the positive side.   Jan 29, 2024

I had a djent & math Wednesday, and this was the day's highest point. Also, what the heck happened to all these members since 2011? Anyway, I keep coming back to this album - it has an eclectic mix that works beautifully and feels like a perfect natural match. I even found myself loving the jazz. 드디어 이들의 약점이었던 절제된 기타솔로가 어느정도 해금되었습니다. 지난 앨범도 만족스러웠는데 역시나 이번에도 실망하지 않게 해주네요. 나이가 들어감에 따라 내가 좋아하는 밴드들도 하나둘씩 늙어가고 멤버들도 세상을 떠나는 걸 보니 매우 슬프네요. 반덴플라스는 계속 음악활동 왕성히 해주었으면 좋겠습니다   May 8, 2024

리치가 베이스를 1–3, 6를 연주했다. 그 외의 스튜디오는 밥 데이즐리 연주. 어렸을 때에는 1,5를 굉장히 좋아했었는데 문제는 5를 라센 시기에는 듣질 못했었다. 지금은 오히려 4번 같은 곡이 애청곡이 되었다. 앨범으로 기준으로도 1,2집보다 더 좋아했던 기억이 있다. 8번은 역시나 디오의 또 다른 보컬 맛을 느끼기 좋은 곡. 디오 재적시의 앨범은 영원할 것 같다.   Apr 20, 2024

3인조 코로너의 전 앨범 특히 2,3,4집을 좋아합니다. 옛날에 3집을 LP로 구입했었는데 속지에 시계, 스위스, 큰 글자로 '그로테스크' 라고 적힌 기억이.. 이후 90년대 중후반에 걸쳐서 전 앨범을 시디로 하나씩 모았죠. 30년간 신보를 안 내고 재결성 후에 아직도 활동하는 것도 특이한데, 그만큼 고정팬들이 많다는거 거겠죠.   Apr 25, 2024

개인적으로 이 앨범을 그렇게 좋아하지 않는다. 이 앨범이야 말로 방향성이 애매했던 프로듀싱과 작곡으로 생각보다 안좋네 라고 생각했던 앨범. 물론 메탈 갓이 주다스의 시그니쳐로 쓰이기는 한데 이 곡도 애매하다. 브레이킹 더 로나 리빙도 맘에 안들고 물론 관중과 싱어롱할때는 좋긴 하다고 생각은 하지만 말이다. 75-80점.6번 8번이 의외로 좋다.   May 8, 2024
