Lyric Death Metal and Romantic Death Metal from Sweden...
ABBA, Yngwie J. Malmsteen 의 국가로 알려진 Sweden 뿐만 아니라 Scandinavia Death Metal 은 Europe 의 감수성이 짙게 나타난다. Secondary Black Metal 의 帝王인 Darkthrone 이지만 處女作은 Europe 의 감수성을 발산하는 Death Metal 이었고 本作인 Entombed 의 處女作이 그러한 Europe 의 감수성을 발산하기에 Scandinavia Death Metal Scene 으로 Localization 하여도 무방할 것 같다는 私見을 남긴다. Deutschland, Italy 에서 발전한 유구한 고전음악이 Europe 의 감수성을 대변했던 것 처럼 Scandinavia Death Metal Scene 에서 Europe 의 감수성을 발산하기 때문이다. 그 만큼 本作은 Europe 의 뛰어난 Death Metal Masterpiece 임에 틀림없다. Producer 인 Thomas Skogsberg 의 功이겠지만 낭만주의적 고전음악의 정취를 느낄 수가 있다. 이러한 것은 첫 번째 Track 에서 여실히 드러난다.

Good god. Death Metal was born in the late 80’s, but most of that stuff isn’t a huge leap away from extreme Thrash and Black metal of the same decade. Even the albums that had broken from carrying clear Thrash influence still sound like a genre in development. This beast sounds like it could have been released yesterday.
