The title of the EP is a reference to the Devourment compilation album 1.3.8., and the album cover itself is a reference to Devourment's album Molesting the Decapitated.
"8.1.2." itself is the area code for Evansville, Indiana, which is where Engutturalment Cephaloslamectomy is based.

• The title to the track "You Think I'm Gonna be the Scapegoat for the Whole Damn Machine?" and the sound clip used in the intro are a reference to the television series The Wire.

• The title to the track "Slamsonite... I Was Way Off" and the sound clip used in the intro are two different quotes to the film Dumb and Dumber. The title references where Lloyd (Jim Carrey) speaks the line "Samsonite! I was way off" when attempting to remember a woman's name in front of a phone booth.

• The title to the track "Let Me See Some Hammers" is a reference to the band Epicardiectomy and their performance at 2010's Mountains of Death festival. The line "Let me see some hammers" and the sound sample used at the song's intro can both be heard in a popular YouTube video depicting the band's performance.

• The track title "Entrails Slammed from a Wigger's Cunt" is a play on the Cannibal Corpse song "Entrails Ripped from a Virgin's Cunt".
