Manowar는 21세기 후반을 지배한 중량급의 메탈 밴드 중 하나임을 자부할 수 있는 밴드라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 1982년 [Battle hymns] 앨범을 통해 메인스트림으로 뛰어든 Manowar는 1988년 발표한 앨범 [Kings of metal] 에서 정점에 올랐고, 1992년의 [Triumph of steel] 이나 1996년에 발표된 [Louder than hell] 등의 앨범은 이런 Manowar의 위상을 더욱 더 굳건히 한 앨범이라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 Manowar는 [Louder than hell] 앨범 이후 두 개의 라이브 앨범을 발표했을 뿐, 더 이상의 스튜디오 앨범은 내지 않은 채 조용히 수면 아래에 머물고 있었다.
이런 현상은 비단 Manowar에게만 나타났던 것은 아닐 것이다. 소수의 밴드를 제외하고는 1990년대 후반부터의 메탈 신은 제대로 위축되어 있었던 것이 사실이니까. 1990년대를 뒤덮은 거대한 음악의 물결은 어디까지나 그런지 락이었으며, 오소독스한 하드 락과 그 직통 후계자라고 할 수 있는 메탈 밴드들은 지금까지 시장과 장르를 선도해 오던 Judas priest, Iron maiden, Metallica 등의 초대형 공룡 밴드들이 하나같이 휘청인다는 악재까지 겹치게 되면서 상당수가 해체되거나 기약이 없는 활동 정지에 이르는 경우가 많았다. 주의!! 이 앨범을 들으면 온 몸에 금속냄새가 진하게 배이면서 급격하게 테스토스테론 레벨이 올라가니 특히 여성분들은 조심해서 접근할 것
