My 665th most played album. Iron Maiden - A Real Dead One. Loaded with the best songs I never know which live maiden to listen to they have 4 and they all sound great. The album tracks were recorded at different venues across Europe during the Fear of the Dark Tour of 1992 and the Real Live Tour of 1993. I got this from the 12 for a penny Sony music club I sure miss those guys! No gold on this wow I thought everything Iron Maiden was Platinum. "The Number of the Beast", "The Trooper", "Prowler", "Transylvania", "Remember Tomorrow", "Where Eagles Dare", "Sanctuary", "Running Free", "Run to the Hills", "2 Minutes to Midnight", "Iron Maiden" and "Hallowed Be Thy Name". Turn this one up very loud!

이 라이브를 들어보면 Iron Maiden의 초기 명곡들이 얼마나 라이브에 적합한 곡이었는지 피부에 와닿는다. A Real Live One에 비해 A Real Dead One이 훨씬 듣기 좋다. 일단 Bruce Dickinson의 목소리 상태도 훨씬 좋고 Iron Maiden의 라이브 앨범에서 듣기 힘든 초기 명곡들을 많이 실어놔서 팬들에 대한 밴드의 배려가 잘 느껴진다. Prowler나 Remember Tomorrow 같은 팬들 사이에서 꽤나 유명한 곡들이지만, 라이브에서 연주되는 경우는 매우 드물다. 많은 라이브 앨범을 발표한 Iron Maiden이지만 이 두 곡이 실려있는 라이브 앨범은 A Real Dead One뿐이다. 또 Iron Maiden의 명곡 리스트에는 항상 오르지만 기이할 정도로 라이브 무대에 오르는 일은 적은 Where Eagles Dare 역시 이 앨범의 가치를 웅변하는 트랙들이다. 전반적으로 관객의 호응 부분을 제외하고는 이 라이브는 Iron Maiden의 라이브 중에서 최고 수준인 Live After Death나 Rock in Rio에 미치지 못한다. 그럼에도 이 라이브 앨범이 가치 있는 이유는 위에서도 언급했듯이 평소에 듣기 힘든 트랙들이 많이 실려 있기 때문이다. 특별히 품질에서 하자가 있는 것은 아니지만 전반적으로 약간 아쉬운 퀄리티의 라이브 앨범이다.

Live After Death에서도 느꼈던거지만 일부러 보컬의 녹음 상태를 그냥 저대로 처리한것일까? 의도한것인지는 잘 모르겠지만 영 아쉽기만하면서도 또 이상하게 그 조악한 녹음상태가 음악감상에 방해되지는 않는다. 끈적끈적한 연주와 관중의 환호성이 잘 배합되고 가만 들어보면 그렇게 멋진 라이브 앨범이 아닐수가 없다. 아이러니하다. 아무튼 그런 손질없는 솔직한 사운드는 현장감을 극도로 끌어올리고 관중의 환호성과 떼창등과 함께 이 라이브 앨범의 가치를 더 높여준다.
1집부터 파워슬레이브 앨범까지의 곡이 담겨진 앨범이며 92,93년 투어에서 뽑아져 만들어진 앨범이다. 이들 라이브에서 브루스 디킨슨이 1,2집의 폴 디아노의 곡을 부른 경우가 많지 않은데 이 앨범에서는 3,4,5,7트랙에서 1집곡이 4곡이나 포함되어 있어서 소장가치를 더 해준다.

This is a compilation of live recordings from the Fear of The Dark tour. Interestingly, this album features only pre-Somewhere in Time (1986) songs and combines the best songs from that era but does not compare to Live After Death in my opinion as a live album. It would have been better if they had released it as a compilation of studio songs, this one along with A Real Live One but under other names of course.

Transylvania 라이브가 있다는 게 장점. 개인적으로는 Prowler, Remember Tomorrow 두 곡만큼은 천하의 브루스 디킨슨도 폴 디아노의 보컬에 못 미친다고 생각한다. 그래도 이왕하는거 Killers의 곡들도 리스트에 더 넣었으면 어땠을까

이앨범 만들때 리얼 라이브 원 앨범에 비해 많은 고생을 했다고함. 옛날 곡들을 현대적 스타일로 재현하기 위해서였던듯?
