A more primitive sound of what they ended up becoming. But definitely some questionable lyrics

The band goes mainstream and therefore as per normal with this sub genre of metal, it could be one of 500 different bands

A bit more bite on this one. Finding their sound finally after the first couple of records. Not a fan of metalcore but objectively, this isn’t bad

Slightly leaning more towards finding their own current sound on this. Or at least they’ve stopped listening to Dillinger and started listening to ETID

A band still trying to work out who they are, and clearly one that likes listening to Dillinger escape plan

Phil Anselmo showing his versatility on this one. Probably a good gateway record for fans that aren’t sure on black metal, especially those of the lo-fi variety. Whilst it still packs the extremity a black metal record would produce, its production and song writing mean it isn’t too in your own face

Of the back half of their discography, this is the strongest album I feel. Just the right amount of heavy and melodic without the feel of it being a bit cheesy

Definitely a stronger album than the last couple that were produced

This is definitely a better album than the last couple. Still not quite trivium at the best, but I think Alex Bent coming into the fold did a lot for them

Another album that I think if certain other bands produced, would stand out as a strong album, but for trivium’s standards, was kind of middle of the road. It sounds like Heafy goes with another new approach on the vocals which did grow on me as the album went on. Definitely a big Iron Maiden influence on this record as well
