Clear Cold Beyond preview  Sonata Arctica preview  Clear Cold Beyond (2024) 90/100    Apr 25, 2025
The band's best in over 15 years, which is saying something. A really strong and entertaining work with great songs and a creative way of performing. A small negative side is surprisingly Tony Kakko who is usually the strongest side of the albums. Now he sounds a bit tired or even frustrated which is a shame because the music is insanely good. Despite everything, a great album and a positive surprise.

Imaginaerum preview  Nightwish preview  Imaginaerum (2011) 90/100    Apr 25, 2025
One of the band's best, 'Storytime' is amazing! Anette is extremely underrated and it's a shame Nightwish only released 2 albums with her. There's only one weak song on the whole album, 'Slow, Love Slow' is boring in my opinion and just dulls the atmosphere. Otherwise the album is amazing, and thematically almost a concept album. Brilliant!

Who Do We Think We Are! preview  Deep Purple preview  Who Do We Think We Are! (1973) 70/100    Apr 25, 2025
Really boring. Even though the level is unfairly high after "Machine Head", this album is depressing and unimaginative. A few decent songs but nothing amazing. Also the band's playing and Gillan's singing are somehow b-level, and there is no soul and will to be found. No wonder the line-up broke up soon, which also raised the level.
Powerslave preview  Iron Maiden preview  Powerslave (1984) 100/100    Apr 25, 2025
Possibly the best metal album of all time. The song material is perfect, simply perfect. On top of that, the band is on fire and Bruce Dickinson in particular is a true overlord who always gives you goosebumps. 'Aces High', '2 Minutes To Midnight' 'Powerslave' and 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' are not only among the top 30 Iron Maiden songs, but in general, of all time. AND THEY'RE ALL ON THIS SAME ALBUM. Absolutely incredible.

Dystopia preview  Megadeth preview  Dystopia (2016) 85/100    Apr 25, 2025
A really good modern trash album. The song material is good, although I would have left the last 2 songs off the album myself. The production is up to modern standards and the band's, especially Kiko's, playing is amazing. The great cover art is also a plus. The only clear negative thing is Dave's vocals, which are sometimes even quite annoying, he's just never been a special singer. Otherwise, a good album that I'll return to at regular intervals.
Stained Class preview  Judas Priest preview  Stained Class (1978) 85/100    Apr 24, 2025
Probably the best Judas Priest album from the 70s. The song material is consistent with a few highlights ('Beyond The Realms Of Death' is one of the band's best songs) and the production is more successful than before. Rob Halford is a truly amazing singer and I think he really rises to the top of his field on this album. A few mediocre songs bring the album down a bit, but it is a great album anyway.

Parasomnia preview  Dream Theater preview  Parasomnia (2025) 90/100    Apr 24, 2025
Great album! I'm a big "A View..." fan and was very skeptical about Portney's return for a long time, but that turned out to be paranoia because "Parasomnia" is an extremely high-quality and balanced album. Especially 'Night Terror' and the 19-minute-long 'The Shadow Man Incident' demonstrate the band's talents as both players and composers. Practically a concept album, with each song dealing with sleep and its phenomena. Great job, for the second time in a row.

Night Terror preview  Dream Theater preview  Night Terror (2024)  [Single] 90/100    Apr 23, 2025
Excellent single. In my opinion, the Mike Mangini era Dream Theater albums are great, and the line-up change was a big risk, but at the time of writing these fears have been forgotten because "Parasomnia" is a great album and 'Night Terror' is definitely its highlight. The guitar solo before the last chorus is so amazing that it would make an onion cry.
