Leviathan (2004) |
100/100 Mar 22, 2026 |

This is near perfect, as far as albums go. Each Guitar riff hits perfectly, beginning with the opening guitar riff on Blood & Thunder (one of my favorite Guitar riffs of all time), & climaxing with the haunting final riffs on Joseph Merrick. The Drum & Bass work is also solid, with each of the three instruments complimenting each other nicely as the album progresses. And I can't forget, of course, the amazing lyrical & vocal performances (the highlight of of the album), which truly capture the essence of the story of Moby-Dick (although its definitely much more exciting than the book). All in all, this is a fucking amazing album that never fails to entertain, I would definitely recommend it to any fan of Speed, Sludge, or Progressive Metal.

From Mars to Sirius (2005) |
100/100 Oct 5, 2025 |

This is an absolutely amazing album. The guitar riffs are so fucking heavy, and memorable, they are executed so perfectly that it brings a tear to the eye. The bass doesn't stay in the background as it normally would, instead here it breaks through the mold and manages to sustain the album in it's softer parts and greatly improves the organized pandemonium that is "From Mars To Sirius". The drums excel at being heavy and chaotic, while still maintaining a sense of order within the songs, and at times even becoming more melodic and even rarely militaristic. The vocals -as well as the lyrics conveyed through the vocals- manage to hold a sense of power and excellence, that really make this album pierce the vale. And on top of all of that the ambient sounds of whales that are sprinkled through out this album (primarily on "Flying Whales") helps make this album more authentic that it already is. All in all "From Mars To Sirius" is a phenomenal work of art, a masterpiece that conveys the story of a martian seeking refuge from his war-torn planet, and travelling far across the Galaxy (all the way to Sirius) in search of a new home. Also just as a quick note, "The Heaviest Matter In The Universe" is the best Track on this album. ... See More

Sin, Sorrow and Sadness (2000) [Demo] |
95/100 Sep 23, 2025 |

I will begin reviewing the "Sin, Sorrow, & Sadness" EP. "A Reflection Of Anguish On A Face So Innocent" is an early Demo of Track 8 "Reflections" it doesn't have the long intro, and most of the ending of the song is different, I think that it's really good regardless. Next is "Trapped Inside The Cage Of My Soul" which is a Demo that kind of just sounds like the rest of this album, and doesn't really add that much, but I like the rhythm and Ben Perri's vocals on it so it's not half bad in my view. Then there's the second to last song "A Lie Will Always Defeat The Truth" which just kind of sounds like "Capeside rock" & "Eulogy For An Angel" but faster and with more thought put into the drums like in "The Switch". And finally there's the outerlude "IV" that's an instrumental track that doesn' t really add much or take away much from the album, although it does have a very conclusive sound/vibe to it. And that concludes my review of the EP "Sin, Sorrow, and Sadness". ... See More

Too Bad You're Beautiful (Reissued) (2005) [Boxed set] |
100/100 Sep 23, 2025 |

To begin, this album is amazing and is probably one of the best Metalcore albums of all time, but being the band's first album it's not without flaws, it also contains a second disc with four extra tracks serving as an EP. I will walk through each of the tracks in order, starting with the first track on the album "The Royal Crown VS. Blue Duchess" although I love most of this album, I do not like the first three tracks very much and usually start with track 4 "Mercury Rising". The first track has a strange vibe to it, as they power through the first third of the song, take a break, then go right back to the loud screaming in the third part of the song. I like Perri's vocals in the first and third parts of the song, the guitar doesn't really captivate me like the other songs on this album, also the drumming is kinda bland and uninteresting. I think that the third part of the song is really what brings it up, I love the Bass on that part, as well as the lyrics screamed perfectly by both Mark and Perri at the same time, a style that I especially love. "Cherry Kiss" is a somewhat strange song, although I like it more than Tracks 1&3, I still think it's sorta subpar, it has a great guitar riff, I think the drumming is good, the thing that kinda brings it down however is that the whole first half of it feels kinda bland, boring, like it's missing something. My least favorite song on this album is definitely "Chloroform Perfume" Mark's singing isn't all that interesting for most of the song, the rest of the band also fail to deliver an interesting performance, it's not a bad song per say, it just doesn't look so good surrounded by all the bangers on this album. "Mercury Rising" is an interesting song, although it is an Interlude, it's successfully creepy, and sets up the rest of the album perfectly. Track 5 "Capeside Rock" is the first of many songs on this album to have this distinct, awesome, Metalcore, From Autumn To Ashes sound to it. It's unstructured, filled with screaming, has great guitar and Bass riffs, and contains scream-chants, which are some of my favorite parts of this album. Now it's finally time for Track 6 "Take Her To The Music Store" which is tied with "Short Stories With Tragic Endings" for best song on this album, it has an iconic, sassy guitar riff, complimented with great Bass and Drum riffs/patterns. It opens up with a sample from "Dawson's Creek" S4E20 "Promicide", which sets the mood for the following, which is probably some of the best lyrics they've ever written, Perri's vocals excel in this song, and the scream-chants are one for the ages. Track 7 "The Switch" Track 5 "Capeside Rock" and Track 9 "Eulogy For An Angel" all sound similar, and are all great songs, they all have good guitar and Bass riffs, "The Switch" also has both a great Drum pattern and an awesome Drum Solo. Track 8 "Reflections" is only made different from some of the others by it's long intro and incredibly lengthy Scream-Chant at the end of the song, otherwise it's pretty similar to the other tracks listed above. Finally Track 10 "Short Stories With Tragic Endings" which is an amazing and unique song, dealing bone crunching riffs, as well as some great vocal work by Perri and Mark, but the thing that really seals the deal is phenomenal singing by Melanie Wills, her singing compliments Perri and Mark's performances without entirely stealing the show. Now that I've finished my review of the main album, I will begin reviewing the "Sin, Sorrow, & Sadness" EP, that is on the Reissued version as a second disc. "A Reflection Of Anguish On A Face So Innocent" is an early Demo of Track 8 "Reflections" it doesn't have the long intro, and most of the ending of the song is different, I think that it's really good regardless.
