With Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion, Old Man’s Child delivered one of the strongest melodic black metal albums of the late '90s. Galder strikes an impressive balance between aggression and atmosphere, blending razor-sharp guitar riffs with dark, majestic keyboard melodies that never overshadow the music. The album is concise, focused, and remarkably consistent, avoiding unnecessary filler while maintaining intensity from beginning to end.

Gene Hoglan's drumming adds a powerful dynamic to the record, giving every song extra weight without sacrificing precision. Tracks such as "Towards Eternity," "God of Impiety," and "Thy Servant" showcase the band's ability to combine memorable melodies with relentless black metal energy. The production is clear yet retains enough grit to preserve the album's cold Scandinavian character.
