Monument는 Grand Magus가 데뷔 앨범에서 보여준 원초적인 거친 에너지에 보다 정제된 구성과 명확한 방향성을 더하며 한층 진일보한 모습을 보여주는 작품이다. 묵직한 리프와 블루지한 감성을 살린 둠 메탈 기반의 사운드는 더욱 견고해졌고, JB의 보컬 역시 자신감과 설득력을 더해 밴드의 존재감을 강화하는 데 크게 기여한다. 특히 Brotherhood of Sleep나 Baptised in Fire와 같은 트랙은 초기 Grand Magus 특유의 중후함과 고전 헤비 메탈의 영향력을 조화롭게 녹여내며 인상적인 흐름을 만들어낸다. 하지만 앨범 전체적으로는 여전히 곡 간의 개성과 구성이 다소 단조롭고, 긴장감 있는 서사 구조나 감정의 고조 측면에서는 미흡한 점이 드러난다. 이는 밴드가 음악적으로 아직 완전히 성숙하지 않았음을 시사하며, 향후 더 강렬한 개성과 완성도를 갖춘 작품을 만들기 위해 넘어야 할 과제가 적지 않다는 것을 보여준다. 결과적으로 Monument는 분명 전작보다 나아진 작품이라고 할 수는 있겟지만, Grand Magus가 진정한 자기만의 언어를 완성하기까지는 아직 갈 길이 멀다는 사실을 동시에 드러내는 과도기의 결과물이라 할 수 있다.
