To begin, this album is amazing and is probably one of the best Metalcore albums of all time, but being the band's first album it's not without flaws. I will walk through each of the tracks in order, starting with the first track on the album "The Royal Crown VS. Blue Duchess" although I love most of this album, I do not like the first three tracks very much and usually start with track 4 "Mercury Rising". The first track has a strange vibe to it, as they power through the first third of the song, take a break, then go right back to the loud screaming in the third part of the song. I like Perri's vocals in the first and third parts of the song, the guitar doesn't really captivate me like the other songs on this album, also the drumming is kinda bland and uninteresting. I think that the third part of the song is really what brings it up, I love the Bass on that part, as well as the lyrics screamed perfectly by both Mark and Perri at the same time, a style that I especially love. "Cherry Kiss" is a somewhat strange song, although I like it more than Tracks 1&3, I still think it's sorta subpar, it has a great guitar riff, I think the drumming is good, the thing that kinda brings it down however is that the whole first half of it feels kinda bland, boring, like it's missing something. My least favorite song on this album is definitely "Chloroform Perfume" Mark's singing isn't all that interesting for most of the song, the rest of the band also fail to deliver an interesting performance, it's not a bad song per say, it just doesn't look so good surrounded by all the bangers on this album. "Mercury Rising" is an interesting song, although it is an Interlude, it's successfully creepy, and sets up the rest of the album perfectly. Track 5 "Capeside Rock" is the first of many songs on this album to have this distinct, awesome, Metalcore, From Autumn To Ashes sound to it. It's unstructured, filled with screaming, has great guitar and Bass riffs, and contains scream-chants, which are some of my favorite parts of this album. Now it's finally time for Track 6 "Take Her To The Music Store" which is tied with "Short Stories With Tragic Endings" for best song on this album, it has an iconic, sassy guitar riff, complimented with great Bass and Drum riffs/patterns. It opens up with a sample from "Dawson's Creek" S4E20 "Promicide", which sets the mood for the following, which is probably some of the best lyrics they've ever written, Perri's vocals excel in this song, and the scream-chants are one for the ages. Track 7 "The Switch" Track 5 "Capeside Rock" and Track 9 "Eulogy For An Angel" all sound similar, and are all great songs, they all have good guitar and Bass riffs, "The Switch" also has both a great Drum pattern and an awesome Drum Solo. Track 8 "Reflections" is only made different from some of the others by it's long intro and incredibly lengthy Scream-Chant at the end of the song, otherwise it's pretty similar to the other tracks listed above. Finally Track 10 "Short Stories With Tragic Endings" which is an amazing and unique song, dealing bone crunching riffs, as well as some great vocal work by Perri and Mark, but the thing that really seals the deal is phenomenal singing by Melanie Wills, her singing compliments Perri and Mark's performances without entirely stealing the show. And that concludes my review of the outstanding album that is "Too Bad You're Beautiful".
