더렐의 기타는 다른 밴드의 기타소리와 달리 깔끔하면서도 광폭스러운 느낌을 준다. Cemetary gates 뮤비 도입부에서 잠깐 비춰지는 R.I.P 장면은 다시금 그의 죽음이 얼마나 안타까운지 느끼게 해준다. 이 앨범은 그들을 메인스트림으로 올려놓는 초석이 되었으며 다음작품에서 극절정에 달하는 기타와 보컬의 하모니를 보여준다. 안젤모의 모히칸 헤드뱅잉과 약에 취한 듯한 눈빛, 그리고 침인지 땀인지 모르는 액체의 엄청난 튀김(?)등은 판테라라는 밴드의 카리스마를 표현하기에 충분했다.
이 시절 Cemetary gates와 this love를 들으며 전영혁의 음악세계를 즐겨 들었던 나의 학창시절이 생각난다. 전영혁 아저씨의 그 조용하면서도 나긋나긋한 음성에서 갑자기 더렐의 기타가 나올 때는 그 방송을 듣는 희열이랄까 그런것이 느껴지곤 했다. 지금은 더렐도 없고 전영혁의 음악세계도 없지만 그들의 음악을 들으면 아직도 아드레날린이 분출된다.
