흔히들 Type O Negative라는 밴드를 이야기할 때 고딕메탈이라는 범주 안에 두고 이야기를 한다. 아무래도 그들의 역작인 October Rust나 Blood Kisses라는 앨범을 듣고 평가하기 쉽다. 아무래도 그 앨범에서 보여줬던 그들만의 로맨스적이고 우울한 사운드가 수많은 리스너들의 귀를 사로 잡았기에 그러한 평가가 나온 것이 아닐까 싶다. 또한 이들의 앨범이 한국에 들어왔을 때 수많은 평론가들이 고딕메탈이라는 장르에 한정을 지어놓고 이들의 음악을 설명해서 아무래도 리스너들의 입장이 그렇게 된 것이 아닐까라고도 생각이 든다. 물론 해외에서도 이들의 음악을 고딕메탈로 분류를 하고 있다. 그러나 그것은 전부가 아니다. 이들의 팬이라고 자처하는 사람들은 이들의 음악을 고딕메탈로 부르지 말아야한다라고 역설을 하는 사람들이 있다. 아무래도 Pete Steele이라는 인물이 이끌어가고 있고 그의 전밴드 Canivore적인 요소가 아직도 남아 있기 때문이고 또한 Repulsion이라는 앨범에서 보여줬던 유니크하면서 헤비한 사운드가 Type O negative에 남아 있다고 생각을 하고 있어서 그러는 것인지도 모른다. 그렇다. 이들의 음악은 단순한 고딕메탈이라는 범주안에 넣기에는 너무나 거대한 형태의 음악적인 스타일을 담아 내고 있다. 그들의 음악에 ... 재미있는 컨셉과 기발한 아이디어가 돋보이는 앨범. 하지만 대부분의 곡을 별개의 곡이 아닌 개그 요소로 취급하는 듯한 느낌이 들어 매우 유감스러웠다. 난 개그가 아닌 음악을 감상하고자 CD를 돌리는 거니깐.

지금은 잘 안듣지만 1집보다 가짜 라이브 분위기에서 녹음해서 그런지 훨신 빡세게 들리고 리믹스도 맘에듭니다. 특히나 자기 비하 유머나 "훼이크다 이 병신들아" 라고 하는 유머센스가 일품입니다.
