Sodom의 Masquerade in Blood은 1995년 발매된 앨범으로, 80년대의 정수를 담고 있는 Agent Orange나 Persecution Mania와 같은 초기 명작들과 비교할 때 다소 아쉬운 작품으로 평가된다. 당시 Sodom은 이미 전설적인 스래시 메탈 밴드로 자리매김했지만, 이 앨범에서는 그들의 과거의 전성기와 비교해 뚜렷한 차이를 보인다. 특히, 앨범의 전반적인 톤과 스타일은 80년대의 신나고 거칠었던 스래시 메탈의 에너지보다는 조금 더 지루하고 혼란스러운 느낌을 준다. Masquerade in Blood은 이전의 앨범들에서 보여준 빠르고 강렬한 스래시 리프와 폭발적인 드러밍에 비해 다소 퇴보한 느낌을 준다. 이 앨범은 펑크적 요소와 더불어 느슨한 리듬, 때때로 어수선한 분위기를 가지고 있다. Another Crossover Thrash album from Sodom. And again, not nearly as great as their Thrash releases, but not bad at all.

통통튀며 신명나지만 거칠기도 한 펑크색채와 텁텁한 레코딩이 잘 맞물려 공격적이게 갈아버리는 느낌을 확 주는 곡이 있는가 하면 이상하게 맞물려서 지루하고 텁텁한 곡도 같이 공존하는 애매한 앨범.

잔뜩 심술난 상태의 음악에서 나오는 괴팍함. 성질부리는듯한 리프들과 보컬에 돋힌 가시가 공격적이기는하나 그것만으로 이 작품의 평가를 마치기에는 아쉬운 부분이 많습니다. 텅텅 빈 듯한 레코딩 상태도 그렇고, 베이스가 철컹거리는 소리는 탱탱볼처럼 가볍습니다. 개인의 취향에따라 단순함의 미학인지 단순무식함인지, 그 평가가 갈릴법한 내용물입니다.

A heavy sodom approaches! Masquerade In Blood has a lot of Death Metal influences it seems; that, combined with Sodom style german thrash is quite a nice treat to listen to.
