Most of the recording sessions took place at Studio 33 in Kuopio, Finland and
this time the band used a real choir to boost the sound. The vocal recordings
at Perkele Studios were overseen by producer and Ajattara mastermind Ruoja
(a.k.a. former Amorphis frontman Pasi Koskinen). The CD was mixed by Sami
Niittykoski.

Shade Empire의 2008년 작품 Zero Nexus는 이들이 향후 Omega Arcane에서 폭발적인 진화를 이루기 직전, 과도기적 정체성을 보여주는 독특한 앨범이다. 여전히 심포닉 블랙메탈이라는 틀 안에 머물고 있지만, 이들은 이미 멜로디, 전자음, 그리고 극적인 곡 전개에 대한 감각을 뚜렷하게 드러내고 있다. 전체적으로는 장르의 공식 안에 충실하면서도, 불안정한 실험 정신이 곳곳에 감지된다. 앨범은 시작부터 꽤 공격적으로 몰아붙이며, 특유의 디지털 사운드와 날카로운 리프, 현악 샘플의 조합을 통해 Shade Empire만의 기계화된 감성을 구축한다. 하지만 트랙 간의 일관성과 완성도는 다소 들쭉날쭉하고, 곡의 중심이 되는 아이디어가 흩어져버리는 느낌도 종종 든다. 보컬과 연주의 조화도 아직 완전히 정립되지 않은 듯하다. 실험적인 시도들이 흥미롭긴 하지만, 그 시도들이 하나의 명확한 방향으로 수렴되기보다는 여러 갈래로 흩어져 있는 인상을 준다. 이는 Shade Empire가 이후 Omega Arcane에서 극적으로 통합해내는 바로 그 요소들로, Zero Nexus는 그 전초기지 역할을 한다. 즉, 미완의 잠재력이 가장 명확하게 드러난 시점이다. 곡의 전개가 미친듯이 빠르면서도 박력있다. 신디사이저와 기타 음향을 통해 다채로운 분위기를 내는데 약간 산만한 느낌이 나기도.
