NWOBHM의 기수 Saxon의 첫 공식 라이브 앨범. 정상급 밴드답게 이 라이브에서 Saxon은 자신들의 역량을 탁월하게 드러내고 있다. 현장감은 물론이거니와 뛰어난 연주력과 정규앨범 버전을 뛰어넘는 밴드의 에너지는 The Eagle Has Landed가 라이브 앨범의 귀감이라는 사실을 증명해 준다. 다만, The Eagle Has Landed의 아쉬운 점은 수록 시간이 짧다는 점이다. 45분여의 시간만으로 Saxon의 초기 네 장의 앨범에 실린 곡들을 추려내기 힘들 정도로 밴드는 좋은 곡들을 쏟아내왔다. 적어도 60분에서 70분정도의 라이브가 Saxon이 이 시기에 발표했던 곡들을 담아내기에 넉넉한 시간이 되지 않았을까 싶다. 이 부분때문에 Motörhead의 첫 공식 라이브 앨범인 No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith와 함께 가장 아쉬운 작품으로 생각된다. 그러나 수록 시간이 짧은 가운데에도 Saxon은 자신들의 매력을 최대한 어필하고 있다. 747이나 Princess of the Night, Heavy Metal Thunder, Never Surrender 등 이 앨범에는 초기 Saxon의 걸출한 명곡들이 모두 들어있다. 그것 만으로도 The Eagle Has Landed는 이들을 좋아하는 팬들에게는 의미있는 라이브가 될 수밖에 없다. 본작에 수록된 모든 곡들은 그동안의 스튜디오 앨범을 능가하는 수준에서 녹음되었으니, 도저히 좋아하지 않을 수가 없다.
