Album of the day #320. Ozzy Osbourne - Ozzmosis. All music panned this album, they gave it 2 out of 5 stars "for its lack of evolution from previous releases" So this album sounds just like Ozzy and Black Sabbath??? Cool! It sold 3 million, the fans loved it and so did I! Zakk Wylde - guitar, Geezer Butler – bass, Deen Castronovo – drums, Rick Wakeman – keyboards. YES! Pardon the pun. I don't think this line up could do a bad album. Three singles were released from Ozzmosis. The first was "Perry Mason" number three on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart. "See You on the Other Side", charted in the US at number five on the Mainstream Rock chart The third and final single, "I Just Want You", charted in the US at number 24 on the Mainstream Rock chart. Lemmy Kilmister and Steve Vai did some song writing.

80년대의 Ozzy Osbourne과 90년대의 Ozzy Osbourne은 달라보인다. 라이브 앨범에서 그는 여전히 열정적인 모습을 보였지만, 정규 앨범에서는 상대적으로 차분한 음악을 들려주었다. 91년에 발표한 No More Tears는 분명 Ozzy Osbourne의 디스코그래피상에서 역대 최고의 작품이라는 평가가 동반되는 걸출한 앨범이지만, 예전에 발표했던 앨범들과 온도 차이는 상당한 편이었다. Zakk Wylde하면 터프한 연주가 바로 떠오르지만, 이 앨범에서 그는 강력한 힘이 실린 연주를 자제했다. 그럼에도 Zakk Wylde가 비범한 기타리스트라는 사실은 드러났지만, Ozzy Osbourne의 음악적 역량과는 반비례하는 기력저하는 눈에 띄게 두드러졌다. 그리고 마침내, 같은 해 그는 은퇴선언까지 벌이면서 헤비메탈 씬에 파란을 일으켰다. 결국 이 은퇴는 다행스럽게도 철회되었지만, Ozzy Osbourne이 이후 예전과 같이 정력적인 활동을 해나가지는 못할 것이라는 사실은 뚜렷해졌다.

이 앨범이 메킹에서는 전작보다 낮은 평가인데 예전부터 지금까지 개인적으로 이 앨범이 훨씬 나은 느낌이다. 특히 1번트랙부터 오지의 킬링 트랙 중 하나라고 생각한다. 기저버틀러에 딘 카스트로노보이면 이미 멤버는 역대급.

Music here is monstrously brilliant mix of quality musical ideas & top notch production. Another great album, although slightly weaker than the previous one, as it also contains two less prominent songs. Ozzy had just such a perfect voice for this genre at the time.

'오지오스본식 미디움템포 매드니스 락발라드 스타일 헤비메탈'이라고 이름붙이면 알맞을것같은 장르의 앨범입니다. 날서있고 공격적인 사운드보다는 묘한광기가 서려있는 멜로디, 그리고 그것을 완벽히표현하는 오지의 보컬위주로 짜여졌으며 잭의 기타는 여전히 묵직합니다. 전반적으로 느릿한 분위기로,곡들의 유기성이 매우뛰어나서 좋아하는 작품입니다.

앨범의 가장큰 특징은 달리는 노래가 없어서 좀 지루하고, 블랙사바스 시절 [Sabotage]이후로 오지 오스본의 보컬 역량을 최대한 짜냈다는 특징도있습니다. 대표적인 노래가 6번이 되겠네요.ㅋ

처음으로 산 오지의 앨범. 그때 당시에는 오지의 목소리가 마음에 안들어서 잘 안 듣다가 점점 잭의 와일드한 기타 연주에 빠져 듣다보니 지금은 정말 좋아하는 앨범이 됐다.

95년인가 나오자마자 서울 청계천에서 시디로 샀던 기억이 남. 그때는 한두곡 외에는 별로였는데 20년 넘게 mp3로 랜덤 한두곡씩 걸려서 듣다보니 이게 거의 전곡이 진국이라...앨범 전체에 깔린 색깔도 통일되고 좋음. 커버처럼 검고 어두운 느낌. see you on the other side 는 특히 베스트트랙. 드럼 베이스의 육중함과 심플한 곡구조에서 깔끔하게 잘 뽑아냄

오지와 잭와일드가 있는데 이정도밖에 못하다니.. 지극히 평범한 앨범. 1번트랙도 킬링트랙은 아니고 추천트랙정도. 2번에서 오지가 쇳소리를 조금씩 내는 것이 흥미롭다.
