Omen은 80년대 Power Metal씬에서 크게 성공했던 밴드는 아니지만, 나름의 탄탄한 인지도를 지닌 밴드였다. Manowar와 같이 잘 알려진 것은 아니었지만, 80년대에 이들이 발표했던 작품들은 분명 수작 혹은 명작의 대열에 오를 만한 앨범들이었다. 그러나 이들이 88년에 발표한 Escape to Nowhere은 그동안 음지에서 밴드를 연호했던 팬들에게 충격을 안겨주었다. 그 이유는 사운드 상에서 심각한 변화가 감지되었기 때문이다. 그동안 Omen이 앞서 발표했던 작품은 야만적인 에너지가 넘실거렸던 파워 메탈이었다. 그랬던 Omen이 이번에는 Glam Metal적인 요소를 가미한 작품을 들고 나타난 것이었다. 물론 앨범에는 여전히 파워 메탈적인 요소가 상당부분 남아있었지만, 미끈해진 사운드에 기존 팬들은 난색을 표했다. 개인적으로는 이 앨범이 그렇게까지 망작이라는 생각은 안든다. 오히려 객관적인 시각에서만 본다면 수작이라고 하고 싶다. 그러나 기존 작품과의 거리는 너무 커서 그 괴리감은 도저히 메울 수 없을 정도이다. 이 앨범을 듣고 있으면 다소 복잡한 감상이 떠오른다. 마치 음식점에서 기대를 품고 어떤 요리를 시켰는데, 원하던 맛은 나지 않고 그럭저럭 괜찮은 맛이 나는 그런 요리 말이다. 그래도 위에서 언급했듯이 Escape to Nowhere는 형 ... One of the biggest changes on album is replacement of vocalist. Personally, I think that Coburn Pharr (later he also sang Annihilator album Never, Neverland from 1990) was a good singer, but most die-hard fans did not welcome his arrival & also a partial change of bands style. However, I also like Escape to Nowhere album and overall I rate it quite positively.

Omen's misstep. All their previous albums were great US Power Metal, but this was a flop. A more commercial sound with a weaker vocalist and much less energy.

opäť podarený album, ale pri starých albumoch by som namiesto označenia power metal, označil ich hudbu ako kvalitný HEAVY METAL
