The "A Dark Poem Part I: The Shores of Melancholia" continues where its predecessor left off. But it also incorporates everything we’ve ever known of the band’s catalog. Returning to the days of Light of Day, Day of Darkness, the band sets out to tell us a new story. Instead of accomplishing it in a single, one-hour song, The Shores of Melancholia marks Part I of a three-part series.
The sound is quite close to the wonderful "Blessing In Disguise" of 2003, with a warmer sound and with the band sounding a little more outgoing and quite confident in what they are doing.
This is the true return of Green Carnation, and indeed not with a simple album but with a trilogy that starts with "The Shores Of Melancholia" and will be completed in 2026.

A really good moment , floating songs and arrangement, an ambiance give great and slow vibes with touch of melancholia or strenght and death at moment, a great balance and equilibre!

My pick for Prog Metal album of the year. Admittedly, there are several I have not yet heard, but this album is fantastic!

Green Carnation na novinke "A Dark Poem Part I: The Shores of Melancholia" ponúkajú kombináciu Atmosférického a Melodického Doom/Gothic Metal -u doplneného o Prog. Rock -ové prvky a naopak občas tvrdších blackových prvkov. Základom je mužský melodický spev, ktorý je občas doplnený o growling. Album má dobrý zvuk a hudobné nápady sú podarené.

뭔가 다키하며 간결한 멜로디를 헤비한 기타 리프와 극저역까지 깔아 주는 묵직한 베이스가 어우러져 빈틈없는 사운드로 가득 채워져 있어서 그런지 다소 긴 호흡의 대곡들로 구성되어 있어도 지루하기는 커녕 어? 벌써 끝? ...이라고 느꼈을 정도로 시간이 순삭 됐다. 정말이지 오랜만에 만족한 프로그래시브이자 올해의 앨범 후보.

After listening to the album a few times, I can say it's one of the best metal albums of the year so far. A very well-crafted and structured progressive metal album, full of catchy melodies and plenty of melancholy. There's also some heaviness, as in the track "The Slave That You Are," with its black metal influences. Excellent work.
