Dio의 Intermission은 1986년에 발매된 EP 형식의 라이브 앨범으로, 밴드의 전성기 에너지를 짧고 굵직하게 담아낸 작품이다. 총 6곡으로 구성된 이 앨범은 Sacred Heart 투어 도중 녹음된 공연 실황을 중심으로 하며, 당시 밴드에 새로 합류한 Craig Goldy의 기타가 처음으로 수록된 작품이라는 점에서도 의의를 가진다. 앨범은 비교적 짧은 러닝타임 속에서도 Ronnie James Dio 특유의 압도적인 보컬 퍼포먼스를 비롯해 밴드의 탄탄한 연주력을 유감없이 보여준다. King of Rock and Roll과 Rainbow in the Dark 같은 대표곡이 라이브 특유의 생동감을 지닌 채 전개되며, 특히 팬들이 익숙한 곡들이 무대 위에서 어떻게 재해석되는지를 확인할 수 있는 기회다. 연주와 믹싱은 80년대 라이브 특유의 거친 질감을 살리면서도 정돈된 감각을 유지하고 있어 듣기에 부담이 없다. Intermission은 풀렝스 라이브 앨범의 무게감보다는 팬 서비스를 위한 소규모 기록에 가깝다. 하지만 그 안에는 전성기의 Dio가 가진 화려함, 중후함, 그리고 무대 장악력을 압축해 담아냈으며, 짧지만 인상 깊은 라이브 경험을 제공한다. Dio를 처음 접하는 이들보다는 기존 팬들이 즐기기에 더 알맞은 작품으로, 라이브와 스튜디오의 교차점에서 밴드의 한 단면을 보여주는 소중한 EP다.
