아무리 위대한 밴드라해도 매번 명반을 낼 수는 없으며, 더군다나 음악 활동 기간 전체가 전성기일 순 없다. 어떠한 밴드도 이 법칙에서 벗어날 순 없을 것이다. 비록 오랜기간 별다른 기복없이 준수한 음악 활동을 이어온 밴드들이 없는 것은 아니지만, 수십년간 역량 쇠퇴없이 활동을 이어간 밴드는 장담하건데 결코 없었다. 90년대초 발족 이래로 Drakthrone은 블랙 메탈씬의 기틀을 다진 걸출한 일단의 작품군을 남겼다. 그러나 90년대 말부터 밴드는 블랙 메탈에서 탈피한 음악적 시도와 함께 역량쇠퇴를 경험하게 된다. 그 시기에 발표된 앨범들을 일괄적으로 형편없는 작품들이라고 말할 순 없다. Drakthrone의 경우 연주면에서는 활동을 지속하면서 실력이 나아졌으면 나아졌지, 쇠했던 적은 없었다. 그러나 밴드 초창기의 가히 천재적이라고 할 수 있었던 음악적 감각은 Plaguewielder를 제작할 즈음에는 많이 무뎌진 듯하다. 본작에 수록되어 있는 곡들 중 1번 트랙만큼은 전성기적 Drakthrone의 재능의 편린을 실감할 수 있지만, 딱 거기까지다. 그 뒤에 흘러나오는 트랙들은 지루함을 감출 수가 없다. 침체기 Drakthrone의 작품들을 순례하고자 하는 리스너에게, 1번 트랙 Weakling Avenger은 필히 들어보라고 권하겠지만, 후속곡들은 패스해도 무방 ... A bit less into this one but I won't say it's not still pretty good - decent. I could see why someone would really like this and maybe pick it up more if they're less into Darkthrone's earlier material.

Standard Black Metal, definitely underrated as it's just as good as the band's peak albums.

Good energy and it makes it fun to imagine darkness and evil. Darkthrone has quite a career.

앨범 전체적으로 첫곡의 수준을 못 따라가는 곡들로 이루어져 있다. 3번 트랙을 넘어가면 서서히 곡간의 구분이 없어져서 몇번 트랙을 듣고 있는지 못 느끼게 된다.
