밴해일런의 초기 스타일을 고스란히 잘 가지고 있는 4집으로 전작에서 조금 진지하고 난해한 음악들이 많았다면 4집은 다시 조금 편하고 경쾌한 스타일로 복귀했다고 볼수 있겠다. 데이빗의 보컬은 가끔보면 정규앨범에서도 그저 편하게 자기가 샤우팅하고 싶을때 대뜸 샤우팅을 해대는 것이 나름의 매력인데 이 음반에서도 그런 돌출(?)행동이 정규음반임에도 상당히 많이 나타난다. 그렇지만 그것이 오히려 앨범에 생동감을 주며 앨범자체에 매력요소로 작용하는듯하기도 하다. 작년에 밴 헤일런의 공연을 미국에서 정말 운좋게 볼수가 있었다. 이 음반에서는 Hear About It Later , Unchained 의 노래가 선곡되었는데 30년이 지나도 선곡된 이유에는 다 나름의 이유가 있다고 수긍이 되며 특히 Unchained는 개인적으로 이 음반에서 가장 좋아하는곡으로 밴해일런 전체의 음반중에서도 베스트로 꼽을만한 신나는 곡으로 추천한다.
데이빗 리 로스시절의 밴해일런을 좋아하는 팬이라면 주저말고 구해들어볼 좋은 음반이다.

Van Halen's fourth studio album "Fair Warning" was met with mostly positive reviews from critics / fans and sold more than two million copies, but was still the band's slowest-selling album of the David Lee Roth era.

My most played album #7. My 7th most played album! Van Halen Fair Warning! The first Van Halen is my favorite but we burned that one out so these days I grab Fair Warning the most! Mean Street and Dirty Movies two of the greatest songs ever! So This Is Love? Should have been the huge radio hit but got overlooked! Named guitar players magazine's #4 albums of all time! Rating albums from 1-10 I gave this album a 9.878 making it the 122th best album ever made!

팝적인 부분과 음악내적인 부분이 절묘한 조화를 이워왔던것 같다. 이번 앨범도 역시 그런 부분에 있어서는 아쉬운 점이 없다. 그러나 점점 심심해져가는 것은 나만 느끼는 것인지도 모르겠다
