묵직하고 돌진하는 하드락의 견지에서 볼때 낙제점일지 몰라도 부드럽고 소프트한 Pop Rock 의 관점에선 상당한 점수를 줄수있는 작품이다. 앨범자켓에서부터 뒤틀리고 왜곡된 형상이 사운드상의 변화를 암시하고 있다. 물론 전작에서 부터 어느정도 이런 성향이 엿보였지만 본작만큼 노골적이진 않았다. 2집의 파워와 농밀함을 기대한다면 본작은 과감히 패스해야겠지만 밴드의 색다른 사운드를 탐구하거나 상업적 접근에도 음악적 관용을 베풀수있는 팬이라면 열린마음으로 본작을 즐겨보는것도 나쁘지 않다. 전체적으로 멜로디감이 상당히 뛰어나다. 리치의 처연한 기타가 울부짖는 아름다운 발라드 인스트루멘탈곡 Anybody There 와 나이트위시도 커버한바있는 Snowman 이 본작의 백미이지만 그외도 괜찮은곡들이 다수 포진하고 있다. 조린터너의 애절한 보컬이 돋보이는 Can't Let You Go 와 Desperate Heart 는 상당한 청량감을 선사한다. 물론 Fire Dance 같은 긴박감과 열정이 넘치는곡으로 어느정도 2집의 향수도 느껴볼수있다. 생각이 복잡하거나 강렬하고 거친 사운드에 지친귀를 정화시키는데 부담없이 접근할수있는 작품으로 본작의 의미를 두고싶다.

Flemming Rasmussen – engineer, 이 앨범은 7년뒤 딥퍼플 slaves n masters가 꽤 생각나게 하는 앨범이다. 로저 글로버, 조린터너의 일부 작곡 참여 때문으로 보인다. 개인 적으로 이 앨범 생각보다 많이 들었다. 5번의 연주곡도 좋았다. 9번은 영화음악을 리치가 편곡한 것이다. 나이트위시 전 락쪽에서는 첫번째 편곡이 아닐까 싶다.

"Bent Out of Shape" is Rainbow's seventh studio album and was final studio album before their twelve-year hiatus from the studio. It also proved to be the band's final studio album with vocalist Joe Lynn Turner, bassist Roger Glover and keyboardist David Rosenthal, and their only one to feature drummer Chuck Burgi, who replaced Bobby Rondinelli just prior to the album's recording sessions.

My 763th most played album. Rainbow - Bent Out of Shape. Featuring the amazing vocals of Joe Lynn Turner, he could sing the alpha bit song and I would love it! Featuring "Street of Dreams" #1 on Mainstream Rock. "Can't Let You Go" made it to #43 on UK Singles Chart. Always a hit on my IPOD!

This was it for Rainbow. The last recording. Malmsteen took Turner. Deep Purple reformed with Gillian. Some great songs on this one. Street of Dreams. Desperate Heart. Drinking with the Devil.

Some more run-of-the-mill Rainbow. Good songs, but so inferior to their 70's material.

솔직히 레인보우 앨범 중에 가장 자주 듣게 된다. 대중적인 하드록 노선을 꾀한 후기 레인보우 음악의 완성체라 생각한다.

이전 레인보우 앨범들에 비하면 다소 밀린다고 생각함. 표지도 좀 비호감임. 그래도 주요곡인 2,7이 좋고 9는 애니메이션 Snowman의 수록곡 Walking In The Air를 편곡한것으로 나중에 나이트위시도 커버
