My 38th most played album. Whitesnake, Good To Be Bad! Riff crazy this is a guitar players album! Reb Beach and Doug Aldrich tear it up! The Dinosaur Rock Guitar forum honored the album with a 2008 Dino Award for "Best Album of the Year. In November 2008, Good to Be Bad won the Classic Rock Award for "Album of the Year". It's also my most played album from 2008. David Coverdale is at the top of his game too. 4 singles from the CD, "Lay Down Your Love", "All for Love", "Summer Rain" and "Can You Hear the Wind Blow". I think the best songs are "Best Years", "Can You Hear the Wind Blow", "Call on Me", "All I Want All I Need" and "Good to Be Bad". The tenth studio album was the first album of new studio material in a decade.

본작은 Whitesnake의 10번째 정규 앨범이다. 이 앨범이 나온다는 소식을 접했을 때 개인적으로는 거의 기대를 하지 않았다. 꽤나 오래전에 나왔던 Restless Heart에 크게 실망했던 터라 Whitesnake의 오랜만의 복귀작에 무덤덤했다. 당시 팬덤에서는 1987이나 Slip of the Tongue를 떠올리면서 기뻐하는 반응이 꽤 있었지만, 그들이 과거의 명작에 준하는 작품을 만들기를 바라는 것은 부질없는 바람이라고 생각했다. 그러나 이런 반응도 어느 정도 이해가 가는 측면도 있었다. 적어도 라인업 면에서는 전성기 못지 않다고 할 수 있겠다. Dio, Bad Moon Rising에서 인상적인 실력을 선보인 Doug Aldrich와 Winger, Alice Cooper 밴드에서 활동한 Reb Beach를 영입했으니, 밴드의 팬들이 신보에 거는 기대도 충분히 이해가 간다.
그러나 앨범 내용은 이런 팬들의 기대에 보답하지 못했다고 할 수밖에 없다. 1987이나 Slip of the Tongue의 영광이 떠오르기는 커녕 내용물 자체는 평범한 수준이었다. 적어도 Whitesnake, David Coverdale이라는 간판에 걸맞는 작품은 아니었다. 앨범에서 그래도 Reb Beach와 Doug Aldrich의 트윈 기타는 멋진 연주를 보여주었다. 그러나 곡들의 수준이 그들의 멋진 플레이에 비해 너무 평범했다. 능구렁이 같은 커버데일의 목소리에 수놓는 능구렁이 같은 덕 알드리치의 담 넘어갔다 다시 스르륵 들어오는 기타.. 이 정도면 이름값에 걸맞는 멋진 부활이라 할 만 하다. 이 앨범과 관련 영상을 보고 덕 알드리치를 파기 시작했었다 (렙비치 미안)
