Anneke 의 음악적 커리어 중에서 The Gathering 의 존재는 상당한 부분을 차지하고 있다. 폭넓은 음역을 소화해 내면서도 파워풀한 보컬의 역량을 맘껏 보여준 Mandylion 부터 세련된 우울함과 모던함을 제시한 Home 까지. 그래서 였을까. 그녀가 게더링을 떠나 Agua de Annique 라는 락밴드로 새로운 활동을 시작한다고 했을 때, '메탈' 보컬리스트로서 안네케의 모습을 더 이상 볼 수 없는 것인가 하는 우려를 했던 건 사실이다.
그러나 이후에 그녀가 메인 보컬로서 혹은 피쳐링에 참여했던 Ayreon, Devin Townsend, The Gentle Storm 같은 밴드에서의 활동을 돌이켜보면 아직은 그녀 안에 'Metal' 스피릿이 꿈틀대고 있음을 느낄 수 있었다. 다만, 그녀만의 메탈 밴드라고 하기에는 다소 아쉬움이 있었다. 게더링에서 활동하던 안네케의 모습을 그대로 바란 건 아니지만, 그녀의 진정한 카리스마를 느끼기에는 부족했다.
그녀의 오랜 팬으로서 메탈 보컬리스트 안네케를 갈망하던 중, 2016년 12월 그녀는 새로운 메탈밴드 Vuur 의 결성을 알린다. 앨범 발매까지 오매불망 기다리다 발매 직후 앨범을 구입하여 들어보았다. 처음부터 끝까지 듣고난 후에는 살짝 지루한 느낌이 들었는데, 2번,3번.... 계속 플레이 할수록 안네케의 진가가 서서히 드러났다. 게더링에서 ... See More

I really wanted Vuur to be great. I like Anneke's vocals on heavy stuff, but I've seen em live twice now and listened through the album a couple of times, but I can't get it into it. Damn shame, there's quite some talent on there. I still hope it's successful, Anneke deserves it. And Vuur is one of the most really promising bands at present time

Anneke van Giersbergen gathered in Vuur project musicians from various known or less known bands to tap into her Progressive Metal side & the result is an introspective look at traveling and metropolitan life. It’s very good Prog. album with some really cool grooves and melodic ideas, but it still stays easy and comfortable with a powerful chorus in every song and a strong melodic side.
