Fear of a Blank Planet 앨범을 작업하는 와중에 만든 네 개의 곡으로 낸 Porcupine Tree의 EP앨범. 앨범제목과 동명인 인스트루먼탈 곡 Nil Recurring은 King Crimson의 Robert Fripp의 기타를 들을 수 있고 Normal에서는 여러 곡과 관련하여 작사의 영향을 주고받은 것을 알 수 있다. In Absentia앨범의 후반부가 연상되는 Cheating the Polygraph는 4곡 중 가장 메탈에 근접한 사운드를 들려주며 페이저와 코러스 등 다양한 이펙터로 진행되다 헤비한 마무리가 일품인 What Happens Now?는 Porcupine Tree식 프로그레시브 스타일을 여실없이 보여준다.
4곡만 포함된 EP앨범이지만 완성도면에서는 매우 훌륭한 작품임은 확실하다
