My most played album #321. Ozzy Osbourne - Down to Earth. When the company needs another album and you're a superstar just call all the greats. Hey Mick Jones From Foreigner can you come over and write some tunes for me please, sure. Hey Tim Palmer you helped Pearl Jam and U2 can you give me a hand, sure. Hey Scott Humphrey you wrote for Rob Zombie got anything for the Ozz? Sure. What about Marti Frederiksen who wrote for Aerosmith and Carry Underwood wanna jam. Truth be known it was probably Sharon Osbourne who got them all together. LOL The result, a really great album! Sold 1.6 Million no airplay that's amazing!

내가 Ozzy Osbourne의 노쇠를 실감한 것은 전작이었던 Ozzmosis에서였다. No More Tears는 특유의 분위기때문에 초기 팬들에게서 때로는 혹평을 듣기도 하지만, Ozzy Osbourne의 역량과 Zakk Wylde의 가공할 연주가 어우러진 명작이었다. 그러나 Ozzmosis, Down to Earth를 듣고 있으면, 확실히 그의 역량이 쇠퇴하고 있음을 여실히 느끼게 된다. 그래도 여전히 Ozzy Osbourne 특유의 퀄리티는 어느정도 유지되고는 있다는 사실에 안도하기도 했지만, 동시에 전성기의 가공할 카리스마는 느껴지지 않아 슬프게 생각된다. 특히 Down to Earth에서는 Zakk Wylde의 비중이 늘었다고 느껴지는데, 그의 개인 밴드인 Black Label Society가 연상된다. 앨범을 제작하는 과정에서 실제로 Zakk Wylde와 Ozzy Osbourne간에는 작게 다툴뻔하기까지 했다. 그 이유는 Zakk Wylde가 본인이 쓴 곡을 수록하려는 과정에서 Ozzy Osbourne이 제동을 걸었기 때문이다. 두 뮤지션간의 다툼은 개인적인 시각에서 본다면 Ozzy Osbourne의 손을 들어주고 싶다. 문제가 있었던 곡들은 Black Label Society의 1919 Eternal에 실리게 되는데, 그 곡들을 들어보면 이 곡들이 Down to Earth에 실릴만한 곡이 아니라는 사실을 눈치챌 수 있을 것이다. 결국 Zakk Wylde가 양보하기는 했지만, 적어도 연주면에서 Zakk Wylde의 비중은 어떻게 할 수 있는 ... 사실 나는 이 전 앨범은 좋다고 생각하나 이 앨범은 산지 꽤 되었음에도 잘 안들었고 무슨 곡이 있었나 하는 기억도 없어졌고 거의 라이브에서도 볼 수 없는 곡들 뿐일 듯하다. 이미 오지는 공동 작곡인지는 꽤 되었는데 그래도 안되는 것은 안되는 것인가보다. 오지를 사랑하지만 이 앨범은 안사도 된다고 말씀드리고 싶다.

Some good songs, but too many slow songs. Also, the awesome heavy riffing doesn't match too well with the very record-label songwriting. I like Dreamer though, and Can You Hear Them? surprised me with it's energy.

오지형님 특유의 멜로디 센스는 여전한데 뭔가 조금씩 레퍼토리가 떨어지고 있는것 같습니다. 곡들의 부분부분에서 이전작들에서 한번 씩 나왔던거 아닌가 하는 느낌이 계속듭니다. 이 작품의 큰 문제는 기타톤이라 생각합니다. 붕떠있는듯한 드라이브 사운드가 잭와일드의 격정적 연주를 돋보이지않게 합니다. 톤만 바꿔도 평가가 조금은 달라졌을것 같습니다.

predošlé albumy sú omnoho lepšie, ale stále má aj dobré songy. Gitary sú podarené, Ozzyho spev pôsobí trošku unavene
