어차피 리믹스 & 리마스터 앨범이니 곡 자체에 대한 평가는 생략하겠습니다.
다른 분들의 호불호가 어떨지는 모르겠지만, 저는 매우 만족스럽습니다.
Damnation은 모든 파트가 원판보다 더 선명하게 잘 들리는 제대로 된 리믹스 & 리마스터의 정석을 보여준 것 같고, Deliverance는 원판을 여러 부분에서 많이 개선해 체감상의 차이는 Damnation보다 훨씬 커서 인상적이었습니다.
하지만 Deliverance에는 조금 아쉬운 점들이 몇 개 있는데, 대강 나열해보자면 우선 첫 번째로 리마스터 과정에서의 실수인지 일부 보컬 파트가 악기 소리에 묻힐 때가 있고, 두 번째로 전체적인 드럼 사운드가 개선됐지만 베이스드럼이 약간 묻힌다는 것입니다.
(하지만 흔히 'typewriter'라 불리는 베이스드럼 소리를 싫어하시는 분도 계시니 오히려 장점으로 생각하시는 분들도 있다고 생각합니다.)
그리고 마지막은 사실상 트집이나 다름없지만, 사운드가 원판과 다소 이질적입니다.
물론 리믹스 & 리마스터이기에 본연의 역할은 충실히 해냈지만, 원판의 절묘한 공간감과 톤에 흠뻑 취해있었던 저로서는 약간 이질적으로 느껴지네요.
그래도 어떻게든 노력해서 옥의 티를 찾는 듯한 개인적인 트집 잡기를 그만두고 보면 정말 성공적인 결과라고 생각합니다 ... See More
