Narnia의 데뷔앨범 Awakening은 기타리스트의 연주 외에는 들을 구석이 거의 없다시피한 작품이었다. 그럼에도 이 밴드의 후속작을 듣게 된 이유는 그 기타리스트인 Carl-Johan Grimmark의 역량 때문이었다. 네오클레시컬 메탈에 기반한 그의 플레이는 밴드 자체의 작곡력의 부족에도 불구하고 기대감을 갖게 하는 구석이 있었다. 그렇기에 Narnia가 다음 작품에서는 좀더 좋은 모습을 보여주길 원했다. 밴드는 후속작 Long Live the King에서 그 기대를 비록 아주 흡족한 정도는 아닐지라도 상당부분 충족시켜주었다.
작곡력에서는 일취월장하여 전작의 설익은 전개를 남발하지 않게 되었고, 멜로디 라인도 한결 정갈해 졌다. 그 결과 Carl-Johan Grimmark의 연주는 전작보다도 잘 살아있다. 각곡의 중간중간에서 터져나오는 클레시컬한 솔로는 듣는 청자의 귀를 솔깃하게 한다. 이 분야의 거장인 Yngwie Malmsteen의 후예로는 가장 높은 수준에 오른 연주자가 아닌가 싶다. 기타 연주가 물이 오르니 평범하게만 들리던 보컬링도 귀에 들어오게 된다. 성량면에서는 뛰어난 보컬이라는 생각은 들지 않는다. 하지만 Narnia의 작곡기조가 고음 보컬의 폭발적인 보이스가 필요로 하지 않기 때문에 Christian Rivel은 밴드에 최적화된 보컬이라 생각된다.

Narnia’s approach to soloing makes use of the same neo-classical tools that Yngwie Malmsteen is known to employ. The solos are showy enough, but tend to be shorter than Ygnwie’s. Nevertheless, the songs are interesting and very good.
