To commemorate two decades of doom and gloom from My Dying Bride, the band embarked upon a special project to re-work familiar melodies and themes from their extensive catalogue into long, flowing symphonic compositions, incorporating new vocals and passages from Aaron Stainthorpe. Sharing vocals is professional opera singer Lucie Roche, a talented soprano from France.

밴드 20주년을 기념하여 Turn Loose The Swans를 포함한 이전작들의 멜로디를 따서 만든 그저그런 앰비언트 앨범.
혹자는 그게 바로 Stainthorpe 보컬링의 매력이라고도 하지만, 개인적으론 한대 때려주고 싶던 예전 보컬링에서 일신하여 나름 괜찮게 바뀐 점은 괜찮았다.
이 앨범도 욕을 더럽게 많이 먹는 편으로 기억하고 있어서 좋은 생각을 잔뜩 하고 들었는데, 막상 보니 호평일색이라 대단히 놀랐다.
원래 MDB는 곡들을 필요 이상으로 길게 늘이는 감이 있는데, 그런 성향이 앰비언트와 만나고 나니 때때로 MC스퀘어 하는 기분이 들었다.
길다고 무조건 좋은 곡은 아니다. 물론 길다고 모두 나쁜 곡은 아니다.
그 예가 바로 1번 트랙인데, 아주 조금씩 조금씩 강이 퇴적물을 쌓듯, 감정을 쌓으며 매우 좋은 인트로를 만들어내고 있다.
근데 1번 트랙 이외엔 그런 성실함이 전혀 보이지 않았다 난.
글쎄.. 앰비언트를 많이 듣는 사람들에겐 어떨지 모르겠지만, 내 기준에선 그저 잠 안 올 때 들으면 좋은 기능성 앨범.
혹은 넉넉히 봐줘서 MDB 팬을 위한 일회성 서비스 앨범.
(아니 근데 보통 밴드 몇주년기념이고 그러려면 밴드 정체성에 맞는 무언가를 하는게 맞지 않나??)
