그리 길지는 않았지만, 심포닉 블랙 메탈이 번성했던 시기가 있었다. 그 시기는 Emperor나 Dimmu Borgir, Cradel of Filth의 전성기와 겹친다. 이들 밴드들의 활약으로 지독한 영세 장르였던 블랙 메탈씬의 숨통이 트이게 되었다. Hecate Enthroned이 왕성한 활동을 벌인 시기도 언급한 세 밴드의 전성시절과 겹치고 있다. 최근에야 이 밴드에 대해 알게 되었는데, 초기 Cradle of Filth와 유사해서 놀라워 했다. 보컬의 초고음 스크리밍이 난무하고, Cradle of Filth의 고딕 감성과 흡사한 분위기에 말이다. 고풍스러우면서도 처절한 무드가 앨범 전체를 드리우고 있다. 단순히 짝퉁 밴드라고 치부하기에는 이들의 데뷔 앨범이 지나치게 완성도가 높았다. Hecate Enthroned의 첫 정규 앨범은 Cradle of Filth가 초창기에 낳은 걸작들과 비교해도 꿀리지 않는다고 봐도 무방할 것이다. 이쯤 되면 밴드의 낮은 인지도가 아쉬울 지경이다. 지금에야 심포닉 블랙 메탈에 대한 애정도 많이 식기는 했지만, 만약 이 밴드를 Emperor나 Cradel of Filth에 한참 열광한 시절에 알았다면, 이들 밴드들 못지 않게 아꼈을 것이다.

딱 요맘때 나오던 블랙메탈 특유의 장점은 전부 다 가지고 있는 소문대로 좋은 앨범. 근데 뒤로 갈수록 초중반 트랙들과의 작법 차이가 크지 않아서 아쉬움이 있다.

정신을 혼미하게 하는 보컬과 신비로운 사운드로 무장했다. 단점은 보컬의 최소한의 발음도 느껴지지 않아서 무언가 느껴지는게 좀 적은 것 같다.
