Taken from a blog by Chris Peterson "Above is the cover of Cellador's
short-lived demo "The Burning Blue" which was "released" in Late Summer/Fall
2004. This was a home recorded demo put together essentially to re-introduce the
new and "more pure" form of the band to the world (well the midwest at least).
The first incarnation of the band (ie the "BC" era as opposed to "AD" as I think
of it) was much less focused and driven in a number of directions. We were
certainly a melodic band from the beginning but the original days had songs
going all over the place, ie thrashy, punkish, even NU-metalish (which i didn't
write!) as well as power metalish. This was mostly due to having many different
band members and people auditioning in the band. It was always my intention to
play aggressive Euro-influenced melodic music, and we certainly had this
distinction from the beginning, but the era of The Burning Blue was when the
lineup started to solidfy and things began to feel like what we are today. Many
songs from the old days were abandoned for what I and the band had come up with
during this time. I demoed and "mixed" some demo songs recorded live in Dave
Dahir's basement and put them together with home recorded versions of others to
make sort of a "press demo" to send/give to bands and venue's to make contacts
and gain shows. Only about 20 of these were made or so, mostly given to local
promoters or bands. Soon after when Mike joined the band we re-did 4 of the
songs for the "Leaving All Behind" EP, again home recorded but better in quality
and professionally mastered. Due to The Burning Blue being ridiculously
unprofessional and actually somewhat embarrassing sounding, we always consider
Leaving All Behind to be our first and only real demo, which really it is."
